When I wake again, the room is light for once. Japan isn't there and the delicate light blue curtains are drawn around the bed again, hiding me. I sigh quietly to myself, sitting up, wincing at the faint pain in my side before realising after Japan treated it yesterday the pain is almost non-existent. That makes me smile as I remember he kissed me. I gently touch a hand to my lips, thinking about it. I...liked it, I realise. And then the promise. Do I mean it? Heh, of course I do. Unless forced, I'll never leave Japan.
Something flashes through my mind when my eyes are closed- a freeze-frame of England, France and America approaching the mansion. My eyes shoot wide open in shock and I give a choked gasp. As much as I hate to, I need to get out of here. Now. I throw off the blankets, gently part the curtains, and step out. For once they've left me in my clothes, which I'm grateful for as I can now escape a lot easier, since I don't need to waste time changing, plus I know the way out now. I take the same method as before until I reach the dark room. Since they know I like to never take the same route twice, they'll probably not be bothering with guarding this room. I feel a wave of guilt wash over me, but force myself to push it down, knowing I'll just cause them trouble if I'm still here when they arrive.
Normally I would decide to take a different route, but since I'm in a hurry with the incoming danger I deicde to go against my habits for once and go the same way as before. I walk over to the window and open it, looking out and hopping onto the windowsill again, in the same position as before.
Bracing myself, I make sure everything is secure, before going to jump. I hear the door open behind me and turn to see Italy, Japan and Germany all standing there. I smirk, and drop out of the window into the tree below. I look up to see them all leaning out of the window and wave at them, tears brimming in my eyes at what I'm doing. "Thanks for taking care of me and everything you did for me, but I can sense England is going to be here soon and I don't wanna be around when that comes!" I call. They all nod, waving and smiling sadly. Germany disappears, saying something about buying me time, and Italy calls something along the lines of good luck and disappears too. I look up at Japan sadly and meet his gaze as a wave of guilt rushes through me uncontrollably, the tears in my eyes beginning to flow down my cheeks. Hoping he gets the message. I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise. I'll try my hardest to get back to you. I think. He seems to hear me somehow, because he nods and smiles sadly. His eyes seem to tell me to read his surface thoughts, so I do.
No matter what happens, don't turn back to find me. Keep running and I'll find you.
I nod, give a final sad wave and look down again, eventually forcing myself to let go of the branch I'm on and drop through the branches until I'm on the last set of branches. Unfortunately, they're still about eleven feet off the ground. I sigh, bracing myself for another jump, when I hear shouts coming in my direction. Looking over my shoulder I can distinctly see a green uniform and blonde hair.
Crap. They found me already.
Without thinking, I jump out of the tree, all eleven feet. I land and do a forward roll without stopping, then get up and run, trying to ignore the new pain in my ankle that's stopping me from running at full speed. Please be alright, Kiku... I pray silently as I hear gunshots from the house behind me. Tears fly from my face as I fear the worst, but resist the urge to go back and help, knowing Kiku wants me to get out of here. I clench my fists as I keep running. Running from Kiku when he's in danger is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, and that's saying something. For me, it's worse than fighting a whole army, which I did once. I was lucky to get out of that, I'll admit. But what is wrong with me?! I haven't felt like this before...
My throat and my stomach tighten as I get further and further away from Japan, until I can't breathe and collapse, hoping my outfit will camoflage me. Sure enough, I hear England pass right by me. I silently thank China over and over for the excellent choices as I wait for England to go. When he's a safe distance away, I get up again, defying Japan's orders and running back. I pause at the edge of the woods, scrambling up a tree to get a better view. I see them all fighting inside and decide it's safe to go in and get a better look. I drop down neatly and sprint across the lawn to the tree I dropped out of a little while earlier. I flatten my back up against the bark as I hear fighting proceeding my way. My fingers play at the hilt of my sword as my eyes look to the right, in the direction of the noise, keeping my head still and facing forward.
I see a blue cape briefly flapping out of the corner of my eye and smile. Ah, it's only France. This should be easy. I wonder who he's fighting. When he gets driven back far enough I leap out of hiding with a war cry, striking out. He whips round, blocking my attack with- a sword? Dude, where'd he get that? Never mind how he learnt to use it like that. I strike again with my other sword, but he slides his one down my first sword so it's blocking both. I land neatly on the ground and backflip away from him. I look up, crouching on the ground with one hand on my knee and the other on the ground in front of me. He runs at me and slashes with his sword at my neck, but I duck underneath, rolling out of the way and standing again. I seriously need to find out who taught him to fight and challenge them. Pushing that thought out of my mind I cry out in surprise as I dodge another strike.
I swing my sword up and it hits him this time, grazing a small line before he manages to block my sword and push me away to give him space. That's new, I was half expecting him to pull me towards him, the slimy frog. Quit getting distracted! I yell at myself in my head, as I bring my swords up and over my head, spinning the left one round above my head before jumping forward and using the momentum I gained from spinning to swipe in a long arc. I feel it slam into something solid and roll my eyes as it shears clean through the tree branch. "Nice try." I mutter, seeing his eyes widen with a mixture of shock and fear. "But you should know not to pick a fight with me."
