𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐋𝐘 returned to the crime scene where cora and the others were as soon as wayne was done with him.

there were bruises developing on his face, bruises he hoped wouldn't be fully developed during his time spent helping cora.

they wouldn't allow ethan or the others into the ambulance where cora was being treated, as they needed all the space they could get to work on her.

cora had been stabbed in the thigh, just above her ankle, and very lightly punctured on her hip. with the right help, and the right bandages, cora would be able to walk without crutches within three weeks.

ethan had stayed with her for as long as he could've before he was ushered away, along with the others.

they were now all packed into a room, reasonably emotional as they thought of what could've happened if sam, ethan,
and tara hadn't showed up to the apartment in time to save cora. long story short, she could've been taken to that ambulance on the verge of death.

danny suddenly rushed into the room where they all were, panting heavily as if he had ran all the way to the apartment from main street.

"hey, i came as fast as i could." he said, his voice frantic as he panted through his words.

tara looked at him suspiciously, her eyes dark as she tilted her head.
"did you?"

"i'm scared you guys." mindy whispered, the group rather taken aback she'd admit to be feeling that way.
of course, everyone was scared out of their skin after cora had almost died, but for mindy to tell everyone without embarrassment for once she wasn't fearless was a huge step.

"i really don't wanna get hurt again." she said, speaking the exact words that were coursing through everyone's mind.

"neither do i." chad said, his voice quivering as he leaned forward, trying his best to contain his desperate need to cry.

"i don't want you getting hurt again either." mindy said to her twin, her brown eyes melting as she looked at him.

"i know." he said, leaning back against her,
his head resting gently on her shoulder.

everyone knew even now that the siblings would stick by each other for as long as they lived. they were unbelievably close, and would stop at nothing to protect each other from whatever misfortune was thrown at them in their future years together.

tara did the same, and let her head sink onto mindy's shoulder, desperate to feel any bit better by the feeling of her friends body close to her own and out of harms way, for now.

even in these moments, the only thing that pulled ethan through was the fact that he knew cora was okay. she was going to be fine, and she wasn't going to die. not under his watch.

ethan had no choice but to continue to help his father, and as he looked at all these people he considered his friends, he wondered why the hell he had committed to this.

he cared about them a lot more than he thought he did, which was going to make it even harder for him to kill them when the time came for the action to be carried out.
