Vinno and Anna went to a nearby café and sat down at a table. They both ordered coffee, and then Vinno spoke.
"I know that things have been difficult for you," he said. "And I want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what."
Anna felt a pang of emotion in her chest. She had missed Vinno so much, but she knew that they couldn't be together.
"I appreciate that," she said. "But I think it's best if we don't see each other anymore."
Vinno looked at her with concern. "Why not?"
"Because I need to move on with my life," Anna said. "And I can't do that if I'm still holding on to feelings for you."
Vinno looked down at his hands, and Anna could tell that he was hurt.
"I understand," he said finally. "But I hope that someday we can be friends again."
Anna nodded, feeling tears welling up.
