I have recently been reading pjo stories where the author gives the gods and demigods Elderich terror Chararistics. I absolutely love the idea and decided to jump on the trend. The demigods take animal traits from their parents sacred animals or the animals they protect or created or just animals that live in their domains.
Hyacinthus takes on traits from tiger sharks and merfolk. young merfolk are always very brightly colored. That way they're parents are able to spot them in a crowd. Unfortunately, so can bigger sea creatures. That makes them vulnerable. Young sea creatures are called guppies or pups. Sometimes small Fry's. They mature much slower than humans. When they are young, the parents teach the young a language of clicks. A form of echolocation that is used to alert the parents during danger.
