I woke up to five missed calls from my father, and two missed messages from Violet.

After what happened yesterday, I came home, turned off my phone, and cried for hours.

My phone wasn't charged and I looked like a mess, so I decided to stay in my apartment forever and not leave.

I lay down on my bed and wanted to go back to sleep, but then the bell rang. I had no visitors so I didn't have a reason to get up, but then my phone started blowing up again. I looked over to see who it was and it was Violet.

"Open the door, it's cold out here" she texted. I giggled to myself and finally got up.

I opened the door and saw Violet with some snacks. "Lori, babe you look horrible. I thought you died yesterday. I texted you so many times until your father called this morning to check up on you. What's going on?", she said rapidly and entered inside.

After closing the door behind her, I told her everything that had happened since I left my parent's house, including how my Mom didn't like the idea. I told her how much I cried on that porch and at home.

"I felt like such a disappointment, Vivi," I said, feeling like I was about to cry again.

"Your mother is horrible. I'm sorry but that girl needs to be in a retirement home playing bingo and not telling her daughter what and what not to do," she said, grabbing snacks from her bag. "She should also knit sweaters and complain about groceries prices!" I rolled my eyes at her suggestion.

"What do I even do Vivi? I mean I already applied so there's no turning back" I explained sitting on my couch. I did want to do the job, but I didn't want to disappoint my mom any further, even though she was a terrible person for not believing in me.

I stared at the ceiling, frustrated, and I couldn't help but want to give up. But, I knew I had to keep going. I had to prove my mom wrong and show her that I could do this.

Violet looked towards me like she was about to slap me. "Hold on, what I'm hearing is that you don't want to attend the interview on Friday?" She asked, standing there like an angry mother.

Her glare was so intense, I could have sworn she was saying, "Don't make me come over there!"

"I do but it's lik-".

"No, buts Lori. I know what your mother said and did wasn't the most ideal and made you want to dig yourself six feet deep into the ground. However, your whole life's dream is about to come true, and as much as you love someone you can't let another opportunity like that come to waste" she said cutting me off.

"Think about all the cute guys and girls working with you. You could have a love story in those offices," she giggled to herself. She then did a dramatic slow-motion walk as if she was in a romantic movie.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Violet, we know we have a "no boy rule for Lori." You can't expect me to break that?" I asked.

But Violet just shrugged and said, "Rules are meant to be broken, plus we're adults now Lori, there is no need for that stupid rule we did", she said rolling her eyes and laughing.

Me and Violet sat on my couch and binge-watched old Barbie movies, and ate snacks. We stayed up late, talking about our plans and laughing about silly rules we had as kids.

Violet was one of my closest friends. She was my only friend. She has been there for me since I moved to town, during my first breakup, and now. She's my number one. I could always rely on her, and I always knew she was there for me. She was literally my support system. I don't know what I would do without her.

The first time we met was when I was lost. I was looking all over the school asking people for help and then I saw her and hoped she would help me out, and to my surprise, that's exactly what she did. She gave me directions and showed me around the school. I thanked her and we started talking and realized we had a lot in common. We've been friends ever since.

My mom never liked Violet. She said she was a "bad" influence on me. My father on the other hand thanked Violet for getting me out of my comfort zone. Wherever we were, we always invited the other person.

There was this guy who "liked" me and asked me out, Violet always warned me about him and how he wasn't such an ideal person, but I was dumb and didn't listen to her until he tried cheating on me with Violet, once she told me I broke it off with him and cried for hours I'm pretty sure.

I stared at the floor and thought this through. I was determined to be a lawyer (well probably), and I can't let anyone get in the way of my childhood dream, not even my mother who never really supported me. I clenched my jaw and took a deep breath. I would achieve my dream no matter what. I wanted to make my father and Vivi proud.

"Fine, fine. I'll go to the job interview and hope I get selected" I said getting up. I knew I had to prove to them, and to myself, that I could do this. I was going to become a lawyer and make them proud. I was determined to make it happen.

Violet jumped up and down, "really? Omg omg," she said practically screaming. Violet was so excited that she almost hugged me to death! I smiled at her enthusiasm. I knew deep down I could make it.

There was one more day until the interview. I was terrified for my life. I was doing something illegal. Well, it wasn't illegal but I did it without the other parents' content, so I think that's wrong.

I haven't talked to my parents since Tuesday, and I'm feeling guilty, I genuinely don't want to ignore my father so I promised myself to visit him whenever I could.

Violet planned a day for both of us today to find outfits for my interview tomorrow. Before she arrives I decided to clean my apartment a bit, it was pretty dirty. I put away all my clothes, washed the dishes, and vacuumed the floors. I was basically dead after all of it.

I walked to my room and picked out some sweatpants and a jacket, and got my stuff. I heard a knock on the door and opened it to find Violet waiting outside. She was already dressed up in a nice dress and these shoes she brought, ready to head out. She's always dressing up when it comes to anywhere we go. According to her "You never know when a cute guy will ask you out".

Violet was running around the mall making me try on different outfits and buying almost everything she thought looked "hot" on me.

I was so embarrassed, but at the same time, I enjoyed it. She was so excited and I could tell that she genuinely wanted to help me find some new clothes.

While we were walking, I accidentally bumped into this tall figure thinking it was a wall. I looked up to find a tall, handsome guy looking back at me. My face turned bright purple as I apologized for bumping into him.

"You got me all dirty. Watch where you're fucking going next time" He said ignoring me and mumbling something under his breath.

"Well that was rude of him," Violet said as she lifted me from the ground. I glared at him as he walked away, but I didn't say anything. I brushed myself off and tried to ignore the sinking feeling in my stomach. Violet put her arm around me and we continued our way.

People are actually so annoying.
