The familiar smell surrounds me. That musty basement smell I got used to so many years ago.

The smell that you know comes from damp walls growing mold.

I used to wonder if I'd turn into mold if my brother left me in the basement for too long. Now I hope I'm left here to rot instead of being used as a pawn.

I wasn't able to listen in on much of the conversations being had, but I heard enough to know I'm here to be used as bait.

For what I'm not so sure, they haven't told me who they are. But they don't really have to tell me, I'm sure this has to do with what happened to Ace.

But maybe I'm wrong, maybe Conway got out of jail or my brother is about to burst through that door and point a gun to my skull.

Honestly, I don't really care. As long as I'm the only one they mess with. So when I heard that they were planning on using me to get to someone else I realized that this situation is different.

Although it might be the same in many ways, the smell, the sting in the cuts and scrapes, the dull ache in my stomach from hunger.

This time I'm not concerned about me, or how I'll escape unscathed. All I care about is making sure they can't use me to hurt my friends.

They retied my wrists before they shoved me down the stairs and into the basement.

This time much tighter than it was before. I can't seem to free them, I've been wiggling, twisting and pulling for what seems like forever. But it just won't budge.

I know I've cut into my skin, I feel the warm liquid run down my hand and drop to the floor. It hurts, but nothing like what I've had to go through in basements before.

This is nothing compared to the pain I would feel if someone I love gets hurt because of me.

The door knob twists then clicks. No, I can't be out of time already. Then in the blink of an eye the door is opened, slamming off of the concrete wall beside it.

A guy walks down, one I haven't seen before. Close on his heels is another guy, he's one of the men who helped snag me from the Pit.

The man swings my phone in front of my face. "We need to make a few calls, would you please share your password with us?" The word please coming from his mouth sounds odd. Like he's never meant the word in his life, it holds no meaning.

I only stare up at him, I don't need words to tell him I'd rather swim with piranhas than tell him a single digit of my password.

"Oh, would you look at that, Vincent. We have a mute on our hands." He shrugs.

"Shall I do what we usually do to mutes?" His voice turns cold. Vincent doesn't express any form of emotion, he just nods his head, eyes never leaving mine.

I feel breath on my ear, somehow I completely missed the other guy moving behind me.

"If you can't talk, you have no use for your tongue." He growls.

One of his hands grips the bottom of my chin and then yanks up harshly. I have no option but to look up at him, my chin held in his grasp and the top of my head pushed into his gut making it impossible to move.

He sadistically smiles down at me, his thumb brushing over my lip then forces its way inside.

I bite down, instantly drawing blood and filling my mouth with the metallic taste. It only halts his movements for a moment.
