"How's it look up there?" Cupping your hands together and calling up towards your newfound acquaintance you watched his head pop out from above the top portion of the plant's platform, the blond somehow able to climb up there.
"It looks good." Calling that out in response he quickly finished up whatever else needed to be done before climbing back down, his hands patting away at any grime that might've clung to his jacket. "But, we should probably start looking for the plant now."
At this, you bobbed your head in agreement mouth opening to form a response. "I know where it is, we just need to figure out how to get it back." Stepping to the side you searched for your pack, the black bag being found quickly. "The thieves didn't get the chance to travel far which is good but, there's a lot of them. So that was my biggest obstacle."
Rummaging through it you began screwing together different cylinders together forming the barrel of your own firearm. "With you though, I think we can make a plan that'll work."
Coming to stand behind you the blond let out a hum signifying his understanding, eyes peering through peachy shades at the rifle you held. It appeared customized, the long barrel of it being removable as well as a few other attachments such as its scope.
Loading up some satchels along your belt with extra bullets you swung the rifle over your shoulder, the leather strap and weapon much lighter in comparison to your backpack as a whole.
"Do you need to do or get anything before we go?" Rising back up and twisting around you couldn't help but take a step back at how close the blond had come, his form still having been leaned over not expecting you to stand up so fast.
Coming to a similar realization the blond also stepped back, a cough being forced into his hand. "Uh no I think I'm good, have everything right here." Patting at where his hollister sat the blond let out an airy laugh, his eyes shifting to the side.
"Alright then, let's go."
-
Sand once again fluttered through the air, the small grains being carried around by the cool currents of wind all the while the surrounding area had dipped into shades of plum signifying that the sun had begun to set.
Large rocks protruded from the ground in an almost circular pattern all the while the people of interest sat within, the people who'd stolen the plant all crowding around a campfire.
"They haven't left this campsite in two days." Hushdly voicing your observation your eyes trailed around the group, there were too many for you to handle on your own so you were thankful that someone else volunteered to help- however, now you'd have to come up with a plan. "I think somethings wrong with their vehicle." Gesturing towards the unmoving truck your lips pressed firmly into a line.
Humming softly to signify that he'd been listening the blond rubbed his chin in thought, the plant must've been inside the truck which is why it was hidden from view but as you mentioned- why wouldn't they just get out of dodge?
"Maybe it's electric? Don't some newer models run on stored-up power?"
Taking in what Vash had said you hummed lowly, mind gradually piecing together a plan. "How fast are you at running?" The question and glint in your eye told him you'd come up with something, however, it also led him to gulp.
"Why?"
"Because I'm thinking if you can get everyone away from the campfire I can look through their bags for keys. If the truck is running on some sort of electricity then couldn't we just borrow some from the plant? Given that assumption that the plant is in the back?" Pulling away from the rock you'd been leaning on your gaze focused on the man, his own expression was that in thought as he took in what you were saying.
It wasn't a great plan by any means because anything could go wrong, but it also wasn't a horrible plan.
Giving you a nod in response you opened your mouth to add on before letting out a short 'Hey-' as the blond turned sprinting off. His voice cut through the air loudly as did his loud footsteps circling the wall of rocks.
Shaking your head and grumbling a few things you peered back over the rock, eyes surveying the now-empty campsite as all the men had begun running after your companion. Taking the opportunity to run towards the flame you wasted no time in rummaging through their belongings, eyes flickering up once in a while only to see Vash dancing circles around the men, his gun still sitting snugly in it's hollister.
Rummaging through about half the bags you moved to look through another bag before a hand halted you, the grip on your wrist was tight and the smell of sweat rolled off the man in waves. "Looks like we have a rat problem. What do you think you're doing looking through our things."
"Looking for something that doesn't belong to you." Retorting back with that you lifted the bag you'd been reaching towards with your free hand swinging it towards the guy, it wouldn't do much but it did allow you to pull away.
You had just two more bags to look through.
Quickly jumping to throw the other rummaged-through bags at the man you reached towards one of the last two, the woven fabric of it practically slipping through your fingers as a yelp tore through your lips. A hand had grabbed your ankle dragging you back through the sand, your legs kicked at the perpetrator able to land a few hits till they were inevitably held down.
"A slippery one aint cha."
Annoyed with yourself for not having checked that everyone was still distracted you tried throwing your head up in hopes that it'd knock into the mans- the attempt being futile as it seemed to have just aggravated him more.
The shiny reflection of something attached to his hip however both scared and pique your interest, a pistol was quickly tugged from it's holister before you could speak, the cold barrel of it pressing into the center of your forehead as your eyes trailed from the key you'd been searching for towards the scumbag of a man.
"Normally I don't kill little ladies, but you look like ya scream trouble." The hammer of his gun was pulled back, the chamber letting out a click signifying that it'd been loaded and was seconds away from firing. "I'll kill ya and then I'll kill ya friend."
Starring up at the metal weapon you held your breath, the trigger was pulled although another shot went off before it. The gun's trajectory being shoved to the side just barely skimming the skin of your cheek.
Following where the other shot had come from you could see a trail of steam seeping out from the barrel of a gun, one held by Vash.
"The key (Y/N)!"
As if you'd been brought back to reality you jolted your knees up throwing the stunned man over your body, hand thrusting out to rip the shiny metal key from his belt as he was moved.
Your ear still rang from the shot making you feel light-headed, however, you'd still managed to rise up off the ground rushing towards the truck. The key jamming into it's door unlocking the vehicle as you'd climbed inside inspecting the dash.
Just as you and Vash guessed.
It was indeed an electric vehicle.
