"Maybe we should just kill her." Larry said in an uncomfortably casual tone. "WHAT!?" I exclaimed. Larry shoved his hands in his pockets, "Mrs.Packerton. Maybe we should kill her. She's old so it shouldn't be that hard."

I was a little shaken up by the request. It was unusual for Larry to jump to violence first. Granted this was a sticky situation, but still! "We can't just kill someone Larry! Then we'd be no better than her!"

Todd pushed up his glasses and looked from Larry over to me. "Normally, I'd be against harming others, but in this case Larry might be right." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Todd was actually on board with this?

TODD of all people? I'm not going to pretend I haven't done violent things. I've done some things that I regret so I can see where Todd & Larry are coming from, but I don't want to return to that.

"Todd! Larry! Seriously you guys?" Ash said. I let out a small sigh, at least someone was on my side. "Think about all the strange, unexplainable occurrences that happen in Addison Apartments and in Nockfell in general. The more that I think about it, the less likely it becomes that Mrs Packerton is acting alone. She must be getting outside help. It would explain the police cover ups of Charley and the Homes Family murders. There's no telling how far this corruption reaches."

I had to admit it, Todd had a very strong point. If Mrs.Packerton ISN'T acting alone, she must be working with the police station. Maybe the police are a part of the cult, that would explain how all of this gets covered up so easily, like it never happened.

It would be easy to kill her so that the police didn't have exact insight on what was happening or what the cult was trying to achieve. But something about killing her feels like one step forward, three steps back. It wouldn't be worth the energy.

"God Damn..." Larry said, all of this clearly setting in for him. "I guess that makes sense." Ash said quietly. "Sal, you were saying something earlier today too. I don't know, maybe this does fall on us to take care of."

Ash said, hugging herself anxiously. "..maybe..." I said. I don't know what to do. I don't know how to think. All of this is making so much sense and no sense at the same time. It's messing with my head.

Ash chuckled a little, "You know, the biggest worries normal teenagers have are about petty things like being popular or having nice hair. Not us though, we just have to worry about saving the world, I guess." I chuckled half-heartedly.

She was right. It felt sorta odd trying to figure out such a huge mystery, but it was thrilling at the same time. But it also gave me a feeling of existential dread, and I HATED that.

"Soooo...murder's not on the table?" Larry said. I sighed roughly, "I don't know Larry. I think we should all sleep on it, see what happens." Everyone gave an affirmative and left the room. We piled into the elevator and headed to the ground floor.

I let out a tired and frustrated groan. Gizmo walked over to me, sitting next to me. I smiled, "Hey bud." I scratched his head as he purred. Today has been the longest day I've ever had in my life. We found out why the bologna looked so suspicious.
