“So, Yin mentioned something about you having other information on this case?”  I sip my coffee as I wait for the receptionist to finish typing.

“Yes, and no.  I have dug up some information on Ochaco, but Yin ordered me to stop my research.”  I look at the door separating Yin and me.   “Is there anything you would like to read through, Eraserhead?”

I sip my coffee and slowly drag my eyes back to the receptionist.  “Could you forward the information you have found to me?  I’m going to take a nap on Yin’s couch.”

“Of course, Eraserhead.”  I watch as she quickly moves her hands along the keyboard.  Moments later, a notification dings on my phone.  “The couch folds out to a bed.  Blankets are in the closet of the room Miss. Yin is sleeping in.  She should be out like a light by now.”

I nod and say my thanks before walking to Yin’s office.  The first thing I notice when I walk in is all the neatly organized fills along every inch of two walls.  Everything has a label, and everything is color coded.  The floor is almost spotless.  A couple of papers sit on the floor by the couch.  I walk over and pick them up carefully.  My eyes instantly snap to the first paragraph.

Asuki Family Case:  At 2:47 am on Tuesday, April 25.  The Asuki family had called the police about their daughter not returning from a study session with her friend.  After phoning the other parents, the police deemed this case more than a simple kidnapping.  That same day, I received this case.  So far, no one has given me any beneficial information.  I do not believe the other families kidnapped her, but it is still an option.  Her quirk is confusing, so I’m waiting for the doctor to send me medical information.

I pause and look at the door Yin was behind.  Her receptionist said she would be out.  I glance once more at the door before continuing.

Her doctor finally sent me the information.  She has a quirk that allows her to travel between states of being alive.  Dangerous if the wrong person gets their hands on it.  Her mother has a truth quirk, meaning she cannot lie.  When she uses her quirk, the person she is talking to cannot lie either.  So far, more information is needed.  Everyone the mom has asked has said, “I don’t know anything about little Asuki going missing.”

“A missing kid case, along with seven missing heroes?  Does Yin ever get a break anymore?”  I set the papers down and closed my eyes.

… Wait a minute…

I grab the report and skim it over.

She has a quirk that allows her to travel between states of being alive.  Dangerous if the wrong person gets their hands on it.

“Could these cases be connected somehow?”  I skim the report once more before setting it down.  “I shouldn't jump to conclusions yet.  I need sleep.”  I stand up and quietly move inside the room Yin’s sleeping in.

The room is dim, the only light from the slightly opened curtains.  I look around and quietly make my way to the closet.

“Do you think the kidnapping case is connected to this case?”  Yin’s voice bounces off the wall, making me jump.  She chuckles, “Sorry, sir.  Didn’t mean to scare you.”

I open the closet and grab a blanket.  “I believe the cases are connected.  I’m not sure how, though.  The little girl’s quirk is the only way I can think of.”

I look down as silence fills the room.  Moments pass before Yin speaks up.  “Maybe this is another Eri situation?  I would hate that to be true, but, at the moment, it’s a start.”

I close the closet and face Yin, leaning on the door.  “If it is another Eri situation, who would know how to make drugs like that?”

Yin’s still figure sits up and looks towards the window.  Her figure looks even smaller than regular.  Her once-brushed hair had become a frizzy mess, barely seen through the small light.

She sighs before rubbing her eyes.  “Either someone close to Eri or someone completely random.  More evidence is needed to get an answer.”

“Right…  Sleep well, Yin.”  I make my way to the exit.  I feel Yin’s gaze and turn to face her.  I can’t see her facial expression, but her body language is tense.  “He will be okay, Yin.  He’s the number three hero.”  Her body relaxes a bit, but she stays silent.  “Try to rest up.  We have a long night ahead of us.”

“Thank you, sir.”  Yin looks out the window once more before flopping backward onto her sheets.  “Goodnight.”

I close the door and sigh.  “Sleep…  I love my students, but did they really have to go missing?  For crying out loud, they are heroes.”
