—— THE BALL

Dahee tied the laces that would tighten my dress, the feeling was taut. That's how you're aware the dress is secured.

i did the same for her, she was my best friend. She wasn't a maiden to me, she's so much more than that, she deserved the universe for all that she has done for me.

not even my most expensive jewels would be enough to repay her for her kindness. I stare at her with warmth, she takes notice and smiles.

"let's go, his highness and her majesty wouldn't be very happy if we were to appear to the ball late." she chuckles softly and helps me get down the stairs due to the long ness of my gown.

"do you think prince sunghoon is going to come out to the ball today? though it's unlikely, but it could be possible, they're celebrating for him after all. I've heard he has ethereal looks." she whispers into my ears as we enter the carriage.

"who cares about him and his looks? I don't believe that he's that handsome, how many people have eyed him? The royal family hasn't had a glimpse of his face, how could those people be so sure or even claim that he has ethereal looks?"

"what on earth are you two blabbering on about? You've been like this after Queen Park announced that she was arranging a ball for her son, do you fancy the prince by any chance Rim?"

"I don't fancy him in the slightest bit, say mother...have you ever had a glimpse of his face?" I tilt my head in curiously, deeming for an answer.

mother and father shared strange looks with each other before turning back to me, my mother shook her head. "im expecting to meet the prince for the first time today, at least I'm hoping that I can." she bitterly smiles, she was nervous. I could read her facial expressions like a book.

"you're afraid." i spat, she knew something about him. She was hiding something about the prince, the look on her face, the pacing of her heart that I could hear through my ears, it gave it all away in an instance.

"excuse me, we're here girls get down quickly. We don't want to be late." she clears her throat, changing the subject. My father gets out, helping my mom get down and the two of them hurrying to the entrance.

"do you think they're hiding something about the prince? you think they know something deep about him that they aren't supposed to mention?" I bombard Dahee with questions and she snaps.

"I don't know but you're making it seem creepy, as if you're trying to find out something far beyond, beyond the horrors it's already presenting. Enough with the questions rim" she faces me with exhaustion.

i remain silent and approach the entrance with her. We entered the palace, the inside was decorated with dark antiques and designs, any vampire would fancy.

i stepped into the ballroom, and greeted Queen Park and King Park. "Pleasure to meet you, Princess Seorim from Seo Family." i bow.

"you're the one we've suggested for our son, you're even more beautiful than the paintings that have been sent to us from your kingdom." the queen cheerfully responds.

"there were paintings sent from the kingdom? I wasn't aware of that, it's an honor." i feign to feel proud but truly i didn't.

"please, treat yourself to whatever is in your delight. You might just be our daughter in law." she caresses my head and leaves with the king.

i look over to dahee and roll my eyes, "future daughter in law?" please, my only motive is the throne and throne only.
