Chapter Fifty

Michael

"You're blackmailing me?!" Laura screeches through her tears. "What the fuck?!"

"I'm only doing this so you can help me find Winter. You seem to know where the fuck they are so either you're going to help me, or I'm going to the police."

"b-but I don't even know where they are! They could be anywhere--."

"Then you better start making a list of places so we can start looking."

The door creaks open for only a few students to trickle into my class. I Instantly shooed them away.

"Class is canceled." I zip up my bag. "Pass it on to the other students that come in."

"it's canceled?" The boy looks at his colleagues in confusion. "but then, what do we do?"

"Do what you wish." I tried to keep my annoyed tone to a minimum. "Stay here and do some homework, Read in the library, I don't care. Laura, we're leaving."

She quickly follows behind my feet, snaking through the mumuring crowds in the hallway when Mia nearly bumps into my chest.

"Oh!" She gasps. "I'm sorry Profes--."

I don't have time for this. I ignore her. I have to find her, now!

"H-hey wait!" Mia calls out.

I pushed through the school doors, looking back to find if Laura was still following;

and she was I asked her to, but she was also arguing with Mia who was chasing right after her tail.

"If you know what's good for you, you stay out of it!" Laura hissed at Mia. "Now fuck off!"

We both continued down the parking lot, getting away from the crowds of students entering the school when a pair of loud footsteps rushed in our direction.

"Laura, what the fuck happened?!" Mia panics.

"I said piss off!"

They both continued to bicker as I made my way to my car. I tossed my bag in, urging for Laura to hurry it up when Mia's next words caught my attention.

"Does he know what happened?!"

I stop the back door halfway from closing. I turn to Mia,

"What did you just say?"

"I-I..." She frantically looks from me to Laura. "Laura, d-does he?"

"Shut up you fucking brat!" Laura snaps. "Mind your business and go to class!"

"Do I know what?!" I ask Mia impatiently. "Mia, what are you not saying to me?!"

Her breathes became short and fast paced. She started to panick from the thoughts running through her head when she stammers, "I-I... I don't know! Laura say something please!"

"Do you know where Winter is?!" I urged for an answer. "if you do, you better tell me now!"

"You better not say shit Mia!" Laura threatened. "You know what can happened to your reputation!"

"Her reputation--? Laura, what the fuck is going on?!"

"He blackmailed me!" Mia shouted through her tears. "Blake blackmailed me and... and I don't know what to do!"

"You let it happen!" Laura argues. "You consented to those pictures--."

"I said okay!" she cries. "I agreed but I didn't want to do it! I thought it was all for fun until he wanted to use it against me!"

"Then that's your fault you whore!"

"Laura enough!" I shout at her. "Get in the fucking car right now or--."

"Or what? you'll call the police?" She chuckles from her own anxiety building inside her. "Y-you know what?! fuck this shit!"

Laura turns on her heel and speed walks the other direction; leaving me with a recorded confession but no location.

"Laura!" I call out. "Laura get back here! This is your last warning!"

She doesn't turn back.

Just when I thought all hope was lost, Mia started to talk through her sniffles.

"I... I know I should've said something b-before, b-but... if anybody saw those p-pictures... my career would be over."

"You knew about all of this too."

That was not much of a question but more of a confirmation to my own brain.

She nods, clutching onto her books to her chest when she her hiccups started to pick up again, "I-I-I was there w-when she got kidnapped. I- I'm so sorry Professor!"

She started to lose control over her tears, sobbing out the weight she carried for so long. Deep down, I think she was telling the truth.

"Mia, stay with me now ya hear?"

I gently placed my hands on her shoulders, bringing her attention to my eyes when I begged for the answer. "Do you know where she is?"

"I-I don't know exa-actly..." she wipes her eyes. "but I do h-have a good g-guess. I-I wanna help. I wanna m-m-make things right."

"Right now Mia, I'll take all the help I can get. But I want to thank you for coming clean. I know it wasn't an easy choice, but I will do everything I can do help with the blackmail."

"R-really?" Her eyes became hopeful. "You would help me too?"

"You're damn right I will."

I held out my hand, asking for her books so I can put them in the back seat.

"Get in the car and buckle in Mia, let's go find my girl."
