CUT TO: SOUTH DISTRICT
EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT
TWO CARS SPEED DOWN A HIGHWAY, THE PURSUING CAR RAMS THE BACK OF THE FLEEING CAR SEVERAL TIMES ATTEMPTING TO TRY AND MAKE IT LOSE CONTROL. THE LAST ATTEMPT OF THE PURSUING CAR CAUSES IT TO SWERVE HOWEVER THE DRIVER DIRECTS THE CAR INTO A GRAVEL PIT ON THE ADJACENT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND THEN SPEEDS INTO A QUARRY. THE PURSUING CAR CONTINUES ITS PURSUIT AND EVENTUALLY RAMS THE FLEEING CAR TOWARD AN INCLINE. THE FLEEING CAR RUNS UP THE INCLINE FLIPS AND SLIDES DOWN AN INCLINE ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. THE PURSUING CAR PARKS AT THE TOP OF THE INCLINE AND THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE CAR GET OUT JUST IN TIME TO SEE THE INDIVIDUAL IN THE FLEEING CAR GET OUT AND RUN INTO THE QUARRY.
[Jack]
Wow, she's quite spry, isn't she?
[Quaker]
She wouldn't have gotten a head start if you weren't screwing around.
[Jack]
You used to be so much more fun. Besides, she's wanted alive so we've got to at least show a little restraint.
[Quaker]
It's fun when it's not complicated. This is complicated. Besides, Shade was following her when we left.
JACK SHRUGS HIS SHOULDERS.
[Jack]
Now what are you worried about him for? I got a lucky shot on him though. He's got to be feeling it.
[Quaker]
Let's just find her so we can get our money.
JACK AND QUAKER SLIDE DOWN THE INCLINE ON FOOT AND BEGIN LOOKING AROUND FOR THE FLEEING YOUNG GIRL.
[Jack]
You should come on out, Coins. A lot of people are going to be disappointed if you die. You've got so much to live for. Why would you risk throwing it all away trying to escape?
SHADE SCALES OFF THE SIDE OF COINS' CAR, STANDS UP BESIDE IT, AND USES THE CAR AS SUPPORT AS HE HOLDS THE SIDE OF HIS HEAD, A BULLET HAVING GRAZED HIS HEAD. SHADE THEN LOOKS TO WHERE JACK AND QUAKER ARE GOING.
[Shade]
(To himself)
Nobody is getting what they want tonight.
SHADE SINKS ONTO THE GROUND AND BEGINS TO SCALE THE TERRAIN LOOKING FOR COINS AS WELL. JACK AND QUAKER BOTH LOOK AROUND THE QUARRY FOR COINS. JACK FLIPS AND CLIMBS UP A ROCK TOWER GETTING A VANTAGE POINT TO LOOK FOR COINS. JACK SPOTS MOVEMENT SEES THAT IT'S SHADE AND GRINS.
[Jack]
(To himself)
Looks like he made it after all.
AS QUAKER IS WALKING HE NOTICES FOOTPRINTS AND FOLLOWS THEM TO A BUILDING. COINS WHO IS INSIDE THE BUILDING PATCHING UP A WOUND ON HER ARM, FINISHES THE BANDAGING AND BEGINS TO LEAVE BUT THE DOOR IS RIPPED FROM THE HINGES BY QUAKER.
[Coins]
No! Stop! Okay, listen to me! Whatever they're paying you, I'll double it! No triple it!!
[Quaker]
That's not the way this works. Don't make this any harder than it has to be.
[Coins]
You can't do this!
[Quaker]
Sorry, I've already been paid!
COINS RUNS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BUILDING OPENS THE DOOR AND FINDS SHADE AT THE ENTRANCE.
