Recap:

Karasuno spiked the ball back to Inarizaki and Kita received it, but it wasn't good enough when the ball decided to bounce to the back of the court instead and hit the wall where our banner lay.

For some reason, the meaning behind the banner was sinking into (Y/n) head as she stared at it.

"We don't need memories."

On with Chapter 24:

3RD PERSON POV

"What?" (Y/n) couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the score was 30 - 32, "We...lost?" she was very much in disbelief.

The twins' did a quick attack but it got blocked by Karasuno's own freak duo. The ball bounced far due to the force and it was heading to the back of the court. Akagi and GInjima dove to save the ball, the latter being closer. He reached out his arm but it was still short of a few centimeters and the ball landed inside Inarizaki's court.

It took a second for everyone to process what had happened before Karasuno broke the silence with their cheers. Their supporters followed with their cheering and clapping and lastly, it was Inarizaki's supporters' clapping.

"The Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium is absolutely shaking from the roar of the crows!"

Kita went to grab the sign with the school name on it and the players lined up at the back of the court.

"Thank you very much!" they thanked each other for the match before heading towards the net and shaking each others' hands.

"Karasuno High School earns their spot in the top 16!"

"One of the favourites led by the Miya twins, Inarizaki High School, is out after their first match. It's only day two of the spring tournament, but we've just seen what will be one of the biggest upsets of the tournament!"

The team then lined up in front of the spectators, not before the twins had a small argument in the middle of the court of course. The supporters clapped for them before one of them shouted, "Shut your trap, Atsumu!"

This of course got the attention of the manager, "You always wear your heart on your sleeve! Every good match deserves praise, you dumbass!"

The supporter may have been harsh on Atsumu, but he was right. The blond has been rough on himself and he had to come to realize that it was okay to lose.

He had to realize that it was not always about winning...

"Thank you very much!"

...

"Inarizaki was one of the teams favoured to take hom the championship. Where do you think things went wrong?"

"In order to win this match, we probably should've been more aggressive. That was my mistake, but, there's no doubt that the players made great strides in this match."

While the coach was getting interviewed, the team plus their manager decided to head on first to change and gather their belongings.

(Y/n) was following them from behind when they suddenly decided to stop at the stairs. Peeking through the sides, she saw that the twins were talking to Kita while the rest were just watching.

"S-Sorry-" the twins tried to apologize but go cut off by the captain, "Are you two trying to feel a little relief by apologizing?"

"That's not it at all!" Kita laughed at the reaction, "I know, I know. My bad." he said and (Y/n) couldn't help but to laugh along with him.

"But only apologize when you truly feel bad." Kita said, "I don't think you were wrong to use that quick either. I thought it was going to get through. But... I hate when you do stuff in matches that you don't do in practices." the twins avoided eye contact in sync.

"Those were the worst two guys to receive that quick." Aran added and Kita agreed with him. "Yeah. When you guys are really on your game, everyone else usually gets left behind. But apparently this time, they were really on their game, too. You felt exhilarated, didn't you? It's not everyday we get to have a match like that."

"Good for you." Kita continued down the stairs and the twins were surprised, "Kita-san was smiling just now, wasn't he?" Atsumu said to his brother, "Yeah..."

"He smiled a few times during the match, too." Heisuke pointed out and the twins were even more flabbergasted.

"But," everyone's attention turned back to Kita, who stopped in the middle of the steps, "It's still pretty frustrating. We did everything we could, and I don't have any regrets. In the end, results are just a byproduct. But I wonder what it is." his smile got wider and shocked the twins even more, " "Well? Isn't my team amazing?", I wanted to say that even more."

The stoic captain's words reached the team's hearts and some of them might have even shed a tear or two, including their dear manager.

"Please keep saying it." Osamu said.

"We'll be juniors you can brag to your grandkids about." Atsumu said.

Kita turned back to the front and continued walking down the stairs, "Well, I look forward to that."

"Come on. Let's hurry up and get changed."

...

Back at the inn, (Y/n) has just finished showering when there was a knock on her door. She quickly dried herself and dressed herself when another knock was heard. "Hold on!" she shouted.

She quickly made her way out of the bathroom and answered the door. "Aran?" she was met with the Ace of the team, "What's wrong?"

The male scratched his head, "Well... the twins are not answering the door, and we're going to have dinner soon. Even Shinsuke tried and they didn't respond." he paused, "So, uh..."

"Okay." (Y/n) easily understood what she had to do, "I'll go to their room soon. You guys can start dinner without us." Aran nodded. "Thanks, (Y/n)."

A few minutes after he left, (Y/n) exited her room and headed to her brothers' room. She knocked on the door and received no response, just like what Aran said.

"Tsumu? Samu?" she knocked again and this time she heard some shuffling. Waiting for a few more seconds, footsteps were coming towards the door. The door unlocked and a familiar eye peeked through the slightly open door. "Nee-san?" Osamu said.

"Can I come in?" He opened the door wider and stepped to the side to allow his sister to enter their room. Barely any light was on in the room and Atsumu is already in bed, head buried into his pillow. Osamu followed (Y/n) and sat on the edge of his bed. The former turned his head to the side to see (Y/n) standing there.

"Nee-san?" he called before getting into a sitting position and now facing his older sister. He didn't look at her though as he stared at the ground instead.

Sensing the tension, (Y/n) gave them a soft smile before asking, "Not gonna eat?" they said nothing and slowly shook their heads, although a few seconds later, someone's stomach growled loud enough in the quiet room.

It was apparently Atsumu because Osamu immediately looked at him and the former looked away in embarrassment.

(Y/n) chuckled, "You guys did well." she placed both hands on top of their heads.

"And you still have next year, too."
