Recap:
"Tsumu, wear a mask. It's cold and you're going to get sick again..."
Inarizaki's volleyball club and supporters had arrived at Tokyo a day prior and they finally arrived at the stadium on the second day of the event, just like they were supposed to. The supporters had flags and banners of the school's name
"Don't worry, nee-san! I'm not going to get sick that easily!" Atsumu had a stupid determined look on his face. "It's okay, nee-san. Idiots like him won't catch a cold that easily." Osamu, who was wearing a mask just like his sister told him to, commented and received a now offended Atsumu glaring at him.
On with Chapter 11:
3RD PERSON POV
Since Inarizaki is playing in the second game, they got the chance to practice on another court for 30 minutes while waiting. They started warming up by practicing their serves over the net while (Y/n) and the reserved members ran around to collect the balls.
About 10 minutes later, the coach went to Karasuno's advisor and asked if it was time to for spiking warm ups, due to the limited time they have. He couldn't get an answer though because the advisor seemed to be scared of him. Fortunately for the advisor, Karauno's coach came to the rescue by sprinting across the court and unintentionally shouting, "We'd like to spend more time serving if that's all right!"
Not wanting to argue over something minimal, Inarizaki's coach complied and the teams spent another 5 minutes practicing their serves.
...
When it was time to spike, Atsumu was the only one setting the ball to the players. (Y/n) had wanted to help him, so that he could reserve some energy for the match, but he reassured her that he would be fine and wanted to warm himself up for the game. Although hesitant, the elder understood and prepared the items needed for the match in advance.
SMACK
Out of curiosity, (Y/n) looked back at the court to see who was the one that had spiked that hard. "Ah, of course it was Aran." she commented before going back to her items. She stopped halfway though when she noticed the gaze of their opponents in the other court. They were displaying a mixture of amazement and displeasure, mostly the latter.
Their reactions were understandable. If someone were to go against Inarizaki, the school that is a long-time powerhouse and has skilled players such as Aran, Suna, and the Miya twins, it would be logical to have that kind of reaction actually.
Apparently (Y/n) had been staring for too long since some of them felt her gaze from afar and looked in her direction. She flinched when she made eye contact with some of them, and sent a wave.
...
"Excuse me! Can we please interview you?" after the warm ups, the team was given some time to rest and do their own things before their match. During this time, Kita had been pulled aside by an interviewer and her small crew.
"I'll catch up later." he told the team and they went off, except one person.
(Y/n) decided to stay back with him despite him being a man that can take care of himself.
Kita was positioned to stand in front of the camera a distance away and another crew member gave her a countdown. "Good morning! We are here today with the captain of one of the fan favourites, Inarizaki High's Kita Shinsuke!" "Hello."
"Inarizaki's first match is today, how's the team doing?" the interviewer asked. "Right. The first match can be rather scary and nerve-racking for any team, but we're all pretty calm." Kita answered and (Y/n) was watching the interview happen a distance away. 'Speaking of calm, Shinsuke's calmness is making me not calm...' she sweatdropped.
"Hey, isn't that Machino, the announcer lady?" someone asked from the side and (Y/n) looked towards them out of curiosity. She saw that a group of boys were standing not far from the interview, and one of the boys was walking away. 'Aren't they the same group from the warm up?' she thought when she recognized the name on their jackets.
"What if she tries to interview us, too? What should we do?" the boy with the green hair asked excitedly.
"They're only talking to powerhouse schools, aren't they?" the blond one said. "Don't worry. They won't come to us."
"Is this your first time at the Nationals?" the group of boys jumped at the sudden appearance of the woman in front of them, and the boy who had walked away earlier stopped in his tracks and looked back.
"Ah, sorry. You guys are from Karasuno, right?" they nodded. "I saw you guys during warm up just now! I'm Inarizaki's manager, Miya (Y/n). Nice to meet ya!"
Thoughts were running into their heads when they realized that their opponent's manager had come and greeted them before the match.
"Wait... "Miya" ?!"
...
Minutes before the start of the match, the players from both teams changed into their jerseys, representing the number and the school's name. Inarzaki had gathered right outside the gymnasium they will be using so that they could enter together in am ordered matter.
"Go go let's go let's go, Ina Kō (Ina High)" The cheers of the supporters from school can be heard alongside the playing of the school's marching band.
"Ah! Atsumu!" "Osamu!" "Aran!" and the cheers for fans were added the second they had seen their favourite player entering the court. The players were enjoying hearing their names being called out like celebrities, except for one person who was lingering at the back of the group.
'Ughh.' (Y/n) groaned loudly in her head despite looking calm as ever on the outside. During the time she had been in Inarizaki's volleyball club, this part is one of her least favourites. 'It's so loud I can barely think.'
The music and cheering stopped during the official warm ups but the spectators continued murmuring about the players or about their own conversation.
"Soul Swap Delayed Spike!"
Since the court wasn't that noisy now, people could hear Atsumu exclaim his "special move" that consists of him and his brother running up to the net, crossing paths before jumping, and then doing each other's role instead of their own.
"Did the setter spike?" kind of comments were heard from the spectators and the twins went to the back of the court to wave at them.
"Tsumu, that was cringe!" the blonde heard his sister shout.
"Shut up!"
