SURROUNDED x BY x GARBAGE

The sun was hiding behind the clouds, looking away from the dumpster under it. Screams of pain could be heard, but for the vast majority, this place was filled by an undying silence.

Meteor City.

In the middle of all this, stood a child. Stood? no more like they were sprawled on the ground, like a corpse. Only their subtle breathing and the fluttering of their eyes indicated that their were alive. 

This was Toge, Inumaki Toge and right now, they probably were in the weirdest situation they ever encountered. 

Don't get them wrong : as an exorcist they had seen there fair chair of bizarre.

               Being attacked by a weird half elephant half old man curse? that's fine. 

               Your teacher is a man child, that fly and is a sugar addict? Just deal with it. 

               Your friend's childhood fiance became a giant curse, but is still in love with them? Well be happy I guess. 

               A talking Panda? That's just the norm.

But right now, it was another level of weird. Toge was simply fighting for their life, nothing out of the ordinary. But during the fight against a fairly strong curse, some weird fog formed around them. They first thought it was the curse ability, and tried to get out of it, but they couldn't try anything, because their mind went spinning. Before they fainted, they felt like their head was going to explode. Their body was weightless and they didn't feel anything except the pain in their head, until it all fainted to black. 

The darkness didn't go away, but their senses came back one by one. The feeling of the ground against their back.  The smell of garbage and rust, accompanied by the taste of blood in their mouth. The blackness started to scare them, starting to makes them wonder if they lost their sight, until finally, they could open their eyes. 

Only for a second though, because the sun decided to show again, looking straight in the child eyes. Inumaki groaned, and turned around slowly, the numbness of their body making itself known. 

                    1rst person POV

'Where am I ?' was my first thought when I woke up. My mouth tastes like blood, and my body is kinda numb. 

Looking around, all I could see was garbage. So much garbage, forming mounts as far as my eyes could see. I stood up, looking around slowly : the ground under me was also covered in garbage, forming a little crater where I stood. Except for this, there was nothing really interesting. 

But it's weird, their something not quite alright with my body, all my member are a bit difficult to control. I look down only to see that... I SHRANK?

I always was on the shorter side but, this, I look like a child. My hands are so tiny... Before I could wonder anymore about my current situation, I jolt, feeling someone coming. 

Wait how can I feel someone from so far-

"Oi Kid ! what the hell are ya doing. It seem it's ma lucky day, I was itching to use my new found knife" 

I turn around facing the voice : what I guess is a woman is standing on top of one of the pile of garbage. She is wearing old and teared clothes, with dirty short hair. Her eyes stare at me full of malice and she's holding a curved dagger, a bit rusted. 

I was internally surprised, not at the woman but at my own senses. My eyes could pick up even the little specks of blood on her clothes, and her movement felt a bit slow. Now that I focus , it's like I can feel my body better. My breathing, my movements, even though there a bit difficult to adapt too due to their shortness, I could feel my every muscle . But their is something else that caught my intention. My cursed energy. My cursed energy was different, like it was flowing around me, forming a little cover. 

"Hey! do you ear me or are ya dumb!  It doesn't change anything anyway. 'm sure your blood gonna taste so sweat~"

 I look back at the woman, staring at her while she advance toward me.

"Ya're not even trying to run? that's better for me."  

I wonder if my cursed speech still work. I'll only know when I'll try. So I waited for the woman to come closer, drowning out her talking that was a bit annoying. When she started preparing her attack, I opened my vest, for my snakes fangs to show.

"what are you trying to do, plead for your life? It won't work I-"

"Sleep"

And before she could finish her sentence, her body became limp, her eyes closed and she fell on the ground with a big noise. 

"kelp" 'seems like it still works'

Some hours passed after this incident, and I decided to explore this place a bit. After all, I've never heard of any place like that on Hearth. The closest thing I can think of is this island made  of garbage in the middle of the ocean, caused by pollution. But this place expand as far as my eyes take me, 180° around. This is definitely not right. And another thing is the state of my cursed energy. I tried using this weird aura around me and I can move it around and focus  it on part of my body. So I continue practicing it, and I can tell that it enhance my body way more than my curse energy used to.

I felt a bit tired after this so I tried to found a "safe spot" for the night, even though I don't think there is a safe place in this whole dumpster. 

I walked a lot before finally finding a big chunk of wood, looking like an almost complete wardrobe. I went inside, my small body fitting well enough before closing my eye and thinking of what to do. In any case, I'll have to figure where I am, and why my body regressed in time. There is also the mystery of my cursed energy. *sigh* so much to think about. I'll figure things out tomorrow. 

I woke up because of a sound next to me. It was a bit familiar but , for some reason, really out of place. This buzzing could only be one thing.

Was this a vacuum I heard?

[I hope you liked this chapter! it's actually the second time I write a fic about Inumaki in HxH, but I didn't like the first so you won't be able to find it. There will be different timelines, it might be a bit confusing at first be don't worry, I got you, you're safe.
