Chapter 44: Not everything ends in a HAPPY ENDING

Chapter 44

"Are you sure you don't want me to drive both of you?" Niall asked me as I got my coat from the rack.

I smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek.

"I'm sure" he smiled at me as he slowly snaked his arms around me. "Besides, lily is already waiting for me outside" I gave him a peck on the lips as he pouted when I got out from his arms.

"Call me okay? And please be careful" he said as I nodded. He walked me to the door and waved at me and lily goodbye as I got in the car.

Lily called me earlier to tell me that we need to talk, and once I got in. I saw how bloodshot her eyes is. It's obvious that she cried and that she has problems.

"Hey..." I said cautiously, not sure on what to say. All I want to do right now is hug her, but I respect her personal space too much.

"I'll tell you later... But Uhm.. Coffee or tea?" She asked as she shift the car to drive. I but my lip as I think of a topic, I want to make her smile... Even if it's just fake... I just don't like seeing my best friend like this.

"Coffee will be great" I smiled, and she nodded. "Hey we should go to the beach this weekend, with Samantha! Just the three of us! It will be fun right? I really miss hanging out with you guys!" I saw lily slightly cringed at the thought, and it makes me wonder more on what's her problem is.

"Uh, yeah... I guess that will be fun." I couldn't help but frown, I'm itching to know what this is all about. What's happening to my best friend?

I sighed and look out the window, "I know that you have problems Lily... I know about Louis, and I was just.. I just really want to hear it all from you. I want to hear both sides." I saw her grip tightened, and she was speechless.

"Destiny... Just wait okay?" Her voice is so tiny, I barely heard it. So I shut up, and waited.

After a few minutes, we arrived at this cozy cafe, it smells good yet there are only a few people in here.

Lily ordered a decaf while I ordered a frap. We sat on a vacant table away from everyone else.

For a while, we just sat there. Her staring at her drink, while I was just observing her.

Finally she let out a shaky breathe, "It hurts..." She let out and I saw a tear rolled down on her cheek. I panic and I got her hand and held it in mine.

"Shh... It's okay. Tell me what happened..." I said while soothing circles around her hands.

"It hurts Destiny... It's like I lost my other half, I shouldn't have done it.. But it's the only way. I want him to be happy. I don't want him to get hurt... Once I'm gone..."

With that I stood up, and went by her side, she's sobbing like a little girl as I hugged her right.

"Lily... What are you talking about?" I asked, not able to process everything she said.

She let go of me and hold my hand, "Destiny... I have.."

"You have what, Lily?"

"I-I have cancer..."

I slowly lose my strength, feeling my legs turn into jelly. And my tears start falling uncontrollably.

My bestfriend....
My sister....

No, no it can't be. This can't be happening. I'm sure it can still be cure.

I start shaking my head as I slowly got back to my chair, knowing that I might passed out if I stay standing.

"No, no Lily. Tell me you're just joking. This is not true right?"

She cried louder while shaking her head, making me cry more.

"Destiny, its stage 4"

"It- it can still be cure. No it's impossible. You're not sick. You're a very healthy girl. You can't be sick"

Then there I saw my best friend's eyes, knowing that she too lost hope in curing.

"It's been months... I didn't want to tell you guys cuz I know you'll be worried. You need to live happily with niall. And Samantha with harry. And Louis... He needs to find the one for him... Cuz I'm not."

I cried more, no words came out of my mouth. I couldn't help but wish that this is all just a nightmare. And that Lily is still her old self

And then it hit me.

This past few months, I've noticed that she grows paler, another reason why she always wore red lipstick. She vomited, her head hurts more often. And she changed....

Why didn't I pay more attention? Why was I too caught up by something else when my best friend is suffering?

"I- I'm sorry... I should have payed attention. I sho-"

And she stopped me, she gel my hand and smiled through her tears.

"No destiny... Don't be sad okay? I need you to be strong. I don't want to see you ever crying again. I don't want you to change. I want you to take good care of niall and your children in the future. Guide Samantha, you know how she always need help. I'll still be with you guys no matter what, I'll be watching."

We talked for a while, and yeah... We cried. But we did talk about something else. Knowing Lily, she doesn't like to be so emo about everything.

"Destiny?" She asked once she starts driving, and we were on the intersection.

"Yeah?"

"Thank you for everything" And she smiled at me, and there's something about that smile that I couldn't understand. I felt something... Something that tells me that it's gonna be her last smile. And that scares me.

And so I smiled back and hold her hand.

Then the sound of a car honking, the headlights of the truck blinding both of us...

Hearing ear-deafening screams, and it all went black.
