chapter 6

"Be honest with me, you were the one who wanted to switch tables right?"

He's onto me.

"Yeah. It wasn't anything personal, I just felt uncomfortable serving you guys."

"My dad liked you. My mom didn't but that was honestly just to disagree with my dad."

"Oh. That sounds sad."

He nods as I give him a sad smile.

"They are divorced. My dad lives close to Jasper and my mom apparently close to you. We never really see mom, she isn't a very good influence. We sometimes have these dinners just like tonight, to reconnect or something. Olivia, my sister loves them. I always feel super uncomfortable. It always ends up with mom and dad arguing."

Wow. I barely know William and he already feels comfortable enough to tell me this. It makes me feel kind of special.

"That sucks. I'm sorry I was the one who caused their arguing."

"No no it's not your fault. If it wasn't for you there would have been something else they would have disagreed on."

"Let's talk about something fun. Where are you taking me William?"

"When are you going to start calling me Will?"

I chuckle. I honestly have no clue why I keep calling him by his full name.

"I have no idea. William just feels more natural to me."

"Then I'll just start calling you Adelaide."

"Oh god no please I'll call you Will, I just hate my full name. I'm Ada."

He chuckles and shakes his head.

"We are almost there" he says.

We walk for about five more minutes and arrive at a lake. It's already dark outside and I would normally feel pretty scared in these locations but with Will next to me, I know it's safe.

"I came here a lot when I was a child and still visited mom often. It's super cliché but it really is true."

"It's very calming."

We sit down on a bench and enjoy the sound of nature for a few minutes. When I feel his hand touching mine I try to not freak out.

He slips his fingers into mine. I'm holding Will's fucking hand. What is life?

"Thank you. For making my night, Will."

He smiles. He has a very genuine smile. I like it, it's super pretty.

"I like spending time with you" he tells me honestly.

"I like spending time with you too."
