Chapter 7

Pepper is a lovely woman, she gave me an exhausting tour of the entire building. We have been roaming here and there for two hours and now we are moving towards the good part. Yes! The area where The Avengers reside. Honestly, I am eager to see it. I have done some research on them but it's all fresh.

 Does it even matter, though? Will I ever get to meet them? I don't feel so, they would be busy with their work.

" – and this is where the restricted area starts from. Only the team is allowed here which  includes me, and from now on, you too."

I look in the direction Pepper stands and my jaw almost hits the floor.

This is a whole new level of madness! Or shall I say richness? A huge ass house is on the top of this building and there are still a few floors above us. How am I going to find my way here? Yep, I am getting lost.

"Pepper, who stays here? I mean who is 'the team'?" I ask her, not expecting a sincere answer as today is my first time here.

"Well, the owner of Stark Industries, Tony Stark, the CEO that is me, Dr. Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton." There were others too but some information is confidential.

Slowly nodding my head, I say "Okay, Pepper. Again thank you so much for giving me this chance."

Pepper smiles, "You're welcome, Y/n. You have already signed the legal documents so now we will meet on Monday and we'll start with your first task. I am looking forward to meeting you on Monday."

Feeling delighted, I give her a bright smile and say, "Me too, Pepper."

Saying our goodbyes to each other, I start to leave when the elevator door opens and two, well-built men with a beautiful, tall woman come out.

That man looks familiar...............OMG!

He is the same man who helped me earlier today!

My eyes must have shown shock as he sees me and realizes something. He walks towards me and gives me a genuine smile.

"Hello ma'am, how are you?" The man politely starts a talk. This is the billionth time I am calling him 'the man'. Where are my manners? I haven't even asked for his name!

"Hello, I am doing better. I am sorry I couldn't thank you properly earlier." I give him an apologetic smile.

"Please, don't apologize. It's alright."

He offers a handshake which I gladly accept, "Steve Rogers, ma'am. You may call me Steve." 

"Nice to meet you again, Steve. My name is Y/n Y/l/n." I smile at him and Pepper is taking in the interaction.

"Wait! Do you know each other?" Pepper asks breaking my attention from the current conversation.

"Uh..well, we just met earlier today," I answer her, not knowing what else should I say.

"Yes Pepper, she met us this morning, outside the tower." The lady with them speaks up.

She comes forward with the other man and introduce themselves, "Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton. People call me Nat."

"Oh! Well, glad to know because she will now work at Stark Industries." Pepper states but doesn't get many reactions so she adds,

"She is Tony's new assistant."

At that, Steve looks at Pepper with a bewildered and disbelieving expression. Natasha's face doesn't show much but I can tell she is a bit confused. Clint's eyebrows shot up as soon as he heard the word 'assistant'.
