Hey! Thanks for coming back💕 (the story only gets more juicier from here *winks*)
NARRATOR's POV:
"What do you mean by that?", Lana wanted to know what he was trying to point at.
"All I know is there are secrets that are better left alone than explored", the driver acted distant, "We'll be at the place I told you in 2 minutes, be patient", he changed the topic and let out a grin.
"Umm....okay?", she furrowed her brows and shook her shoulders. Lana couldn't understand his point. All she knew was that there was something the cab driver was keeping from her. She had to keep her head up and her eyes open for any signs.
The car jolted at a stop, "We're here madam, come out", the driver let out a scream, a more generous one.
"Oh yes", she immediately turned around and opened the door in haste, her palms were sweaty so it took a while for her but Alas, She made it.
The place looked exceptionally clean, calm, green, modest. Almost as if saints lived there. There was a garden just outside the huge building which looked more like a palace.
There was a tiny pond that a man, wearing white khadi clothes was cleaning with a fish net tied to a steel rod. He looked at her and then with a smile, went on with his work.
The place was huge. Lana's eyes were scanning the whole place. The building, the garden, the pond and even a LAWN?!
"Damn, this place looks like the 80s queen lived here. You sure they won't cost me my existence?", she gasped, her eyes widened at the slightest possibility of her living here.
"Haha. They actually do it for half the price for students that are here from abroad to pursue their higher education", the driver exclaimed, "Please show yourself in and I'll join you with your suitcase", he motioned her to go inside the hostel.
"Aw that's fascinating", Lana pressed her lips, "And yes, I'll see you inside", she flashed a smile and walked in the direction the driver had pointed at.
She couldn't take her eyes off of the beauty of the place. It was so calm and soothing that she already felt free, free from everything, the struggles she had faced and would face in the future.
Her small tour was interrupted by a ding on Lana's phone. It was Laila's text, yet again.
"Oooh! Let me know when you've found your place xoxo"
Lana's keyboard clicked, "I will, love you!".
Just when she was about to keep her phone down, someone jolted her shoulders. She turned her head to the right and saw the driver standing right beside her.
"Madam let's go. I am in a rush. I have a booking in a few minutes", the driver scampered, urging Lana to be quick.
"Yes", Lana panted, "yes I'm sorry", she scoffed and they both hastened towards the main entrance.
The place was still, only the birds chirping could be heard. The hostel looked more like a high end luxurious hotel with glass windows and huge doors, covered with beige coloured curtains taller than Lana herself.
There was a very aesthetically appealing reception right in front of the main entrance with a nun sitting while on a phone call. She put down the phone as soon as her eyes met Lana's.
She seemed nice, calm and collected. The reception desk was so oddly satisfying, very beautifully arranged with a small plant right across the desk.
The nun flashed a soft smile at Lana and raised her brows as a gesture of welcoming her.
"Hey, here's your suitcase. I wish I could stay longer but madam", the driver huffed from carrying the hefty suitcase, "I have an urgent booking. I need to get going. Good luck", he patted her shoulders and sprinted out after handing Lana her suitcase which was ample from the items inside.
Lana struggled there for a minute to get ahold of it but when she was finally done, she walked near the reception desk and approached the nun with a gentle smile on her face.
"Hi! I'm Lana and I'm here for a room. I landed today....for college", she ran out of breath from carrying the suitcase and stuttered.
"Nice to meet you Lana. I'm Miss Rosalia, the main receptionist. And I'm sorry to tell you, we have no rooms as of now". Pity was written all over the nun's face.
"Oh God no! The driver told me you guys have really nice hostel facilities, especially for college students", she was in sheer disappointment and disbelief, her face said it all. "What am I gonna do now GOD", she screamed on the inside.
"I might be able to help. What college do you plan on attending Lana?", she spoke gently.
"The Technology Department of Science", Lana said in a dull tone.
"Oh shoot. We actually knew a few hostels but they might be a bit too far from your college and are on a very high budget. I suppose you do have a budget right?", she raised her brows.
"Unfortunately, yes. The driver told me all about it. This place was my only hope", Lana was disheartened.
"So Sorry to hear that. I wish we could help", she pressed her lips against each and gave out a soft smile to console her.
"I'll get going, thank you", Lana walked away from the hostel with a thousand second thoughts dwindling in her headspace. Her hopes were shuddered, her mind was clattered. What would she do now...
Lana took small steps and it almost took her 5 mins to be out of the hostel's premises.
Lana stood on the main road outside the hostel, contemplating every choice she had ever made.
She bit her nails, God what am I even gonna do now?! I don't even know anyone here. My classes start tomorrow and I need to get myself a place before that. What do I do... What do I do.... WHAT DO I DO?!, a thousand questions invaded her headspace.
She swayed her head side by side with her shuddered hopes recurring in her mind. The feeling of a numb pain and chill ran up and down her spine, the thought of sleeping on a bench park prompted which seemed horrifying to her.
And all of a sudden, something hit her which prompted her to utter, "I think...I may..I may have found it"
