Oh hey! Fancy seeing you back💕
NARRATOR's POV:
The dust completely spread in the air and Lana couldn't stop sneezing.
The Warden gawked at Lana who was constantly sneezing, with disgust, "Overly sensitive", she muttered out loud enough for Lana to hear it.
Lana wiped her nose, her face had turned red and her eyes became watery, "I'm sorry I uhm", she sneezed again, "I'm allergic to dust".
Warden didn't pay attention to Lana's miserable condition. She continued aggressively scribbling information on the grubby register while Lana stood covering her nose and mouth with force.
"Here are the keys to your room", the Warden banged a key on the desk.
Lana grasped at it but the Warden tackled her with force, holding Lana's hands in her icy grip.
"DO NOT BREAK THE RULES", the Warden instructed with a strange expression on her face. Her eyes were fixated at Lana and her pupils dilated. Her lips were an odd colour of purple that enhanced her chappy lips.
Lana flinched, "Yes yes, I will", she nodded. Her body shivered at the intensity of the Warden's tone.
The Warden loosened her grip and pulled her hand back.
"May I?", Lana politely asked, touching the keys.
The Warden nodded and shifted her gaze towards a book on the desk.
Lana grabbed the keys and dragged her suitcase just a few steps ahead when something intruded her mind, she had forgotten to ask about the way to her room.
She looked at the silver key that had numbers engraved on it, "306".
Lana turned her around and strolled back towards the Warden's desk with hesitation and anxiety.
"I'm sorry but I forgot to ask about the way to my roo-"
"3rd floor, take the stairs", Warden interrupted before Lana could even complete her sentence while keeping her head down and her gaze at the book.
"Thank you!", Lana smiled and walked ahead.
The suitcase was overwhelmingly heavy and she was drained from all of the work she had done. Her arms, feet and shoulders ached. She let her body be her guide and waddled through the corridors.
A greyish carpet on the floor with vintage lamps hanging from the ceiling and slim tube lights at the two corners of the corridor. Despise the lights, the corridors were still dim and dull.
A few paintings and photographs were hanging on the muddy white wall. Lana peeked at them while she took small steps.
An old photograph captured her attention and Lana paused there. She turned her head back to check whether the Warden was noticing her but fortunately, Lana was far away from the Warden's sight.
She paused and peeked at the old photograph.
16 nuns sitting in harmony with soft smiles on their faces. Lana smiled."Wow, they all look so alluring", she slid her fingers over the glass of the frame, "I wonder why they are all wearing the same V-marked veils", she furrowed her brows when she noticed that symbol over the Nuns' veils.
Lana's concentration over the photograph was soon interrupted by a chime on her phone. She twitched because of the sudden notification and slid it out before it could chime again and alert the Warden.
"Hey! Just checking in if you have found the hostel. I'm slightly worried lol. Please lmk".
Lana took a glance at her Lock Screen and saw Laila's text. She decided to send a reply back,
