"Pack your stuff. We're leaving." Curtis stood over Lena and Sage in their sleeping bags and woke them up. "Get up."
"Let me sleep," Sage grumbled and rolled over. Curtis kicked them and startled them.
"We're heading down the train tracks to find that train that delivered us the note," Curtis explained, "If we can't, we're making it on foot." Both Lena and Sage looked skeptical. They didn't know if they believed in him, but they sure as hell didn't have plans of their own.
The train tracks halted as the group reached the end of them, staring up at the train that stood before them. It was colourful, dented and on the verge of not working, but it pulled through. Curtis pulled both of them onto the train and stormed onto the front, putting it in motion. It began to slowly roll down the tracks and Sage nearly fell off their seat. Lena put her hand on Sage's shoulder as if to steady them and keep them still, Sage just smiled back. And besides the rumblings of the train gliding across the track, it laid silent. No one spoke a word. None of them had the courage to.
