Across the horizon, Curtis could see a hill arising. Knowing that without a designated driver it would continue to roll until it crashed at the bottom, he grabbed their wrists and pushed them out the door, running up to the driver seat and pulling the lever to stop it from moving. He did so just before he reached the start of the hill and ran over to Lena and Sage, Lena pulling him into an embrace.
"I'm so glad you're okay."
Curtis was really the only one to leave the train station for supplies, the other two spent most of their time on that cold platform. So Lena had not seen the outside for a long time, and just how much rubble laid around the area. It was covered in debris. Curtis required help moving through as he only had one arm, so he put it around Lena's shoulder for support.
"Curtis!"
His ears perked up. He would recognise that voice anywhere. A figure came running from the shadows and he knew who it was. His brother.
"Oh my god, you're alive." Curtis pulled him into a hug and cried lightly into his shoulder. All this time, he thought all of his family was gone. But part of them lived on. And that's what matters.
Lena stared into Sage's eyes as this happened. "I'm happy for him." Sage said.
Lena rubbed her finger on Sage's cheek. "Me too, darling. Me too."
