It's probably a bad thing that Adam's first thought after the door slammed shut ran along the line of, "Oh. It looks like I've lost my shoe. Great."
He didn't run over to the door this time. No, he wondered how long he'd been asleep during those dreams. It hadn't been long enough to take him into the next day. It couldn't have been, or he'd have felt more rested than he did. But at the same time, what else could this be?
As if to answer his question, a familiar blue figure appeared, and began to speak. "Oh, hello Adam! You aren't dead yet. That's good, I guess. We decided that you were doing too good, so I hope you enjoy your new friends."
"Thanks for that. It really helps the whole living thing," Adam answered. At least he was putting up with this guy instead of doing another Trial.
"Oh, you're very welcome. Anyways, you've already figured out that it's not quite time for your next Trial yet, so I'll go ahead and get down to business," he said beginning to pace the room. "Now, I've come for two things. Both being things I wanted to share with you and discuss in person, or as close as I can get. Notes get silly if an actual conversation is to be held.
"So, first things first, what did you see in the hall when you were about to attack the Skeleton?" He stopped pacing, and turned to Adam with a quzzical gaze.
"Does it matter?" Adam hesitates, not wanting to give this small bit up. This does confirm, however, that what he saw had indeed been a memory and not something sent by the Lab.
"Answer the question," he said harshly, any tone of friendliness now gone.
"It... it was nothing. I spaced out," he lied. He was a poor liar.
"Lying. You're lying," he accused as he narrowed his eyes at Adam.
"Prove it," Adam challenged. Really, he was just stalling in a vain attempt to avoid telling about his memory. Already he knows that the man couldn't help but to explain everything.
"A person's eyes can tell someone a lot of things. They flick to the right, my right, and they're recalling infromation. They flick to the left, and they're contructing a story," he replied in the same steely tone. "Yours went to my left. Just for a moment, and barely noticable at all, but to the left nonetheless. Therefore, you made that up and lied."
"Fine. You got me, but I'm still not telling you." Adam stated as he crossed his arms over his chest in defiance.
The man's eyes flickered a dangerously to different color, not white, as he isn't Herobrine, but maybe one that is unable to transfer through the hologram color spectrum, which only consisted of a few shades of blue. He looked angry, no doubt, but it was only a few moments that passed before his face was resolved into a calm, emotionless state. "Alright. Just realize that your choice could ruin someone's life."
He walked over to something out of Adam's view, grabbed onto it, and drug it over in front of him. A person tied to a chair slowly pixilated into existence, presumably so because she had been moved in front of whatever has been capturing their image to project. She was young and had dark hair with light, terrified eyes. She was wearing a lab coat, and on the coat she had a pin with her name on it. Ashley. He knows that name from somewhere.
The girl, Ashley, catches sight of Adam. Her eyes light up with- no, it can't be with recognition. But it was. She knew Adam too, and unlike him, she remembers him. Her eyes take on a new look, relief, as she opens her mouth to say something.
"Adam! Oh my Notch I thought I'd nev-" A hand clamps to her mouth tightly, and a knife is soon held to her throat. Relief replaced quickly by terror once again.
