Chapter 8 Last Day at Camel Village

Evelyn POV

Today marked the first day of travel. 

While Harvey put together his medical bag, I was eating breakfast. 

Curtis was still at the cave of his, not wanting unnecessary conflicts. With Harvey's help, he somehow got the travel group to accept Curtis. Something on the lines of "I'm a healer, if he's not coming, then I'm out."

Due to their original healer being unable to travel with them, they had no choice but to accept Harvey's bargain.

"Harvey, do you think the Beast City would look like?" I asked out of boredom.

He tied the bag of herbs together.

"I've been there before and it's quite nice." He said, flashing a smile towards me.  "There's a much bigger lake in the part where I use to live."

"You lived there before?" 

"Yes, when I was learning medical skills,"

"Cool! How was that like?"

He chuckled before standing up.

"I was with my friend, he's now a healer for the Tiger Tribe. Or that's what he told me before I left."

"Why did you leave?"

Harvey looked up towards the sky before ruffling my hair, his face serious.

"Because of the Ape King."

"Wha—"

"Evelyn!" A voice called out.

I spun around and met Bai Qing Qing.

"Oh...hi." I said, trying to be friendly.

"I'm going back in the house, Evelyn," Harvey said, smiling as if we never had the conversation at all. 

"I haven't met you since forever!" Bai Qing Qing said, smiling wide.

"Yeah...umm did you mate with Parker yet?"

"Uh?"

"Mating."

"What do you mean?"

Ya! Mating, you fool! What else do you think? Dancing?

"Mating" I repeated but slower.

"Oh...no." 

"You can reject him, you know,"

"But..."

"If you're noting going to leave him, then mate with him."

"W-what?"

I sighed. Why is this girl so hard to teach?

"You're taking advantage of him. If you need someone to help you in this world. I can help you. However, don't take advantage of him. He's clearly in love with you. You, staying with him would only make it worse as he will have higher hopes in pleasing you and becoming your mate."

She stared at me.

"Y-you don't don't understand—"

"Don't understand what? I'm human too you know,"

"What? Then you should understand my feelings the most! We could be friends, leave the males  and find a way to get out of here!" 

Her shout drew a crowd.

"Female, what do you mean 'out of here'?"

"Does your make not treat you well enough?"

"Come with me! I'll take care of your! I have two stripes!"

"Where are you going?" 

A chorus of replies rang out. 

I groaned. This was not what I wanted. I need to make this clear for her.

"Bai Qing Qing," I said loudly. "You may not want to mate with Parker right now and want to leave him, but I will guarantee you that he will protect you. Please reconsider your decision." 

Murmurs rang through the crowd again. 

"Parker?" 

"Is it really Parker?"

"Isn't he the male loved by almost all the females?"

Seeing that the crowd was reacting, I knew that I reached my goal. 

"Sorry, Bai, but I'm leaving tomorrow. Please take care of yourself," 

Almost done, Evelyn! Almost there! Then, I will not come back! At least for a while.

My cheeks started to hurt from fake smiling. 

"Bye, Bai Qing Qing!"

I left quickly ran to Harvey's hut.

"Woah! Evelyn! Are you okay?"

I nodded breathlessly and sat down near the table.

"I'm hungry..."

Harvey got up very quickly.

"Wait here, I'll go and hunt,"

"Okay! Please be careful!" 

He smiled and in a blur, he had ran outside. 

First time someone actually care about me. I wonder what our cubs will look like. Will they look like Harvey more or me? 

Wait, I never saw Harvey's beast form before. Is it the same as in the book? I mean...his history with Curtis is different too...

Ash! Too much of a headache! I'm hungry! Let's leave the thought to here.

After dinner and some digestion, I was making a skirt for Harvey. 

"Harvey, can you come here?" I asked without looking up from my sewing. "I need you to see how much animal skin I need for you,"

He walked up to me and allowed me to wrap a part of the anime skin around his waist.

"Oh thanks!" I grinned up up him.

As I was just about to go back to my sewing, Harvey hugged me very tightly.

"Uh? Harvey—"

"Why don't we do something else?"

Hey y'all! It's FINALLY spring break!!! 

Sorry for not updating in a while! I promise to update a few more chapters during spring break. Also, I will be editing the first few chapters as they are horrible like heck!
