"niñas! pa' 'rriba!" (girls! get up!) is what I heard first thing this morning, accompanied with harsh knocking on me and my sister's bedroom doors. at 7:10 AM too? jeez, does she have to violate my ear drums like that?

"ay voy ma" (i'm going ma) still mostly asleep, i responded with a raspy voice. not following with said words, i laid back down to catch some extra z's. a dangerous game that i decided to take part in.

what felt like hours passed by like a lightning bolt, i sat up on my messy bed and checked the time on my phone, squinting at the brightness.

7:25 AM

"ughh.." i groaned groggily, letting my feet dangle over the edge of my bed as i stare blankly at my wall with my blanket wrapped around myself.

"mija! ya te levantaste?" (honey! are you up?) ah well, i guess my plans for zoning out have been cancelled.

"sí ma.." (yeah ma..) i yelled back, heading to my closet pick an outfit. jeez i really had to do some cleaning in there, clothes were everywhere..

i ended up picking some khaki cargo pants, a black zip up, and a long sleeve white shirt with some cool print on it. i assumed that it would be quiet chilly today since the past couple of days have been pretty cold.

i locked the door and started to change into my outfit, adding accessories like a belt, chains, and rings. going up to my body length mirror, i hummed the lyrics that were singing from my phone.

"she lovesss the attentionnn, you got that ah ah ah-" i mumbled over the melody to mimic it, patting down my pants and adjusting the oversized zip up. now, time for hair and face.

i opened the door to see my sister still lying in bed, knowing well that she goes to school earlier than me.

"oooo mom's gonna get maaaaad~" i taunted her, earning a mean glare from the roach herself. as i walked inside the bathroom, i caught a glimpse of her rolling her eyes. who knew a kid could have the attitude of an edgy teen at the ripe age of nine? i don't blame her though.

i got out my few beauty supplies from my miniature bag, i only wore some makeup to make my face actually match my age. having a baby face isn't for the weak, especially if your style revolves around a more casual and "masculine" presenting manner.

my hands worked the moisturizer into my skin, taking notice of the small flaws that make up my complexion. fingers caressing the incoming pimples forming on my skin, a spooley brushing out my bushy brows that were due for some plucking, the eyeliner wings and dried out mascara accompanying my sleepy dark circled eyes, and my flavorless chapstick that kissed my two toned naturally lined lips.

averting my attention from my face to my hair, i was prepared to take over. i was planning on just putting it in a claw clip but i saw the condition of it.

"well.. today is wash day anyways.." i had decided to put my hair into a low bun. who cares? it's school, i'm not impressing anyone anyways.

i brushed my hair back into the bun, leaving out some strands in the front to frame my face properly. applying some gel to my hands, i spread it onto my crazy baby hairs to keep them tamed. i also put some on my huge bun so that it wouldn't frizz up.

"i think that's good.." my hand reached out for my toothbrush and toothpaste, hearing some ruckus outside the bathroom. i assumed it was my sister and mom squabbling once again, that lil feisty beast can get a bit violent when she's angry in the morning..

after completing my hygienic routine, teeth brushing, deodorant, perfume, etc, i grabbed my things and lunch and started to head towards the car until my mom stopped me.

"no vas a desayunar??" (you're not gonna eat breakfast??) she asked, helping my sister with something, i didn't bother paying attention to what it was.

"voy a comprar algo en la gasolinera" (im gonna buy something at the gas station) i showed her the ten bucks i had in my pocket, i planned to get a sandwich and juice or so and get some candy meanwhile.

(this lil part has body commentary so if you'd like to skip, feel free to do so !)

" 'ta bueno, pero no compres puro chucherías, tienes que mantener tu figura" (that's fine, but don't buy too much junk, you've got to maintain your figure) i knew she'd say that. here we go again.
