KAI WOODS
I had always been a leader, a fighter. But now, facing the possibility of my own demise, my bravado fades away like a mist in the morning sun. The anxiety grips me, making me question everything I thought I knew about myself.
The sounds of battle fade into the background as I focus on my own inner turmoil. I can hear the distant pops of gunfire and the screams of my comrades, but they feel far away, like they're happening in another world. All that matters in this moment is survival.
I try to control my breathing, to slow it down and calm myself. But it's no use. The anxiety is too overwhelming, too suffocating. I feel like I'm drowning in it, like it's consuming me from the inside out.
"Will you join us, partner?"
As Brent pulls me up, I can feel the strength in his grip. It's reassuring, like I have someone to rely on in this chaotic world. But as I turn to face the battlefield, my heart sinks at the sight of Kevin.
The flamethrower looks menacing in his hands, like a deadly snake ready to strike. But it's the look on his face that sends shivers down my spine. His eyes are empty, devoid of any emotion except for a cold, hard determination. It's like he's not even human anymore, but a machine designed for one purpose: to destroy.
It's like time slows down as I watch him. The world becomes hazy, like I'm watching a movie in slow motion. And then, suddenly, I see a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye. One of the enemies lunges forward, aiming for Kevin's back.
"Kevin, watch out!"
I scream out a warning, but it's too late. The enemy's knife sinks into Kevin's shoulder, and he staggers forward, the flames going wild. Brent rushes forward to help, but it's too dangerous. The flames are too close.
I watch in horror as Kevin falls to the ground, his flamethrower still spewing flames into the air. It's like the world stops for a moment, as everyone holds their breath. And then, suddenly, the flames die down, and the battle resumes.
"Now let's fucking dance."
I freeze for a second, staring at Lexi as she effortlessly takes down the cop. It's not the first time I've seen her do something like this, but it still never ceases to amaze me. She's always been a force to be reckoned with, even before she joined our gang.
But I can't let myself get distracted for too long. I shake off my momentary shock and continue running towards my target. My knife glints in the sunlight as I lunge forward, taking out anyone who stands in my way.
The sound of gunfire fills the air, echoing through the mountains. It's chaos all around us, with men and women from both gangs fighting tooth and nail for control. I see Jesse and Beverly taking out men with their guns, while Brent and Lexi use their brute strength to overpower anyone who gets in their way.
It's a bloodbath, but we're used to it. This is what we've trained for. This is what we do.
As I near my target, I see him standing there, a smug look on his face. He thinks he's won already, but he doesn't know who he's dealing with. I launch myself at him, my knife glinting in the sunlight. He tries to dodge, but I'm too quick for him. I slash at his arm, and he howls in pain, dropping his gun.
I take advantage of his momentary weakness and lunge at him again, this time aiming for his throat. He tries to grab me, but I'm too fast for him. I sink my knife deep into his neck, and he falls to the ground, gurgling blood.
As I look upon my gang members, fighting for their lives and our cause, a sense of pride swells within me. They are strong, brave, and loyal to the bone. I can see the determination etched on their faces, their eyes blazing with a fire that comes from deep within.
