BEVERLY WOODS

"My knees buckle, probably from having too much wine tonight, and I fall, taking the person I bumped into with me. As I'm falling, two muscular arms catch me. I already feel that they're strong, but somehow they remain gentle. They wrap around my waist, saving me from falling and ruining my expensive dress that dad bought me.
I lift my eyes to look at the person that holds me. I never saw anything more frightening in my life, yet so handsome and hot, all at the same time.
"You should watch where you're going, love. You could get hurt."
He has the kind of face that stops you in your tracks. I guess he must be used to that, his features are surely not usual. His jaw, sculpted so sharp that it probably could cut. He's not furrowing his eyebrows or frowning, but even his natural facial expression looks evil. No, not really natural. A little devilish smile plays on his lips, revealing his perfect white teeth, glowing in the dark. He has his eyes locked on mine, dark eyes that make me weak at the knees."

<...>

"I never liked tattooed, scary guys, and this one probably has only his cheeks without tattoos covering them. But this guy, he's just too hot to handle. I question myself why. Why can't I take my eyes off of him. I'm sure I already know the answer.
I always imagined the devil to be a handsome man, covering himself under good looks. This guy is the perfect example. He's really gorgeous, sexy, frightening and probably dangerous too. That makes him even more hotter than he already is."

<...>

"Are you... Are you one of Leonardo's friends?"
He raises one eyebrow and his face gets even darker. More evil. Which makes him look even more sexier. More attractive.
"We could say so." He nods and turns away to leave as I enjoy the view of his muscular back tightened by a silk shirt. Everything about this stranger... everything is intriguing. Interesting.
"Wait! I didn't get your name!"
He doesn't hear me, or at least he pretends that he doesn't hear me. He just walks away. His tall handsome body disappearing in the dark, leaving me outside the mansion alone."

A smile starts to pay on my lips as the memories of the first time, when I saw Kai, blocks my mind from anything else. I find myself almost laughing right now; how funny it actually is? I've met my husband at my engagement party, almost rubbing my face on the dirt. And he caught me. He caught me, and from that moment, he never let go of me.
That memory sits somewhere deep inside my mind, somewhere deep inside my heart. Warming me up, like the fluffiest blanket. It's blooming inside me, giving me strength, and some sort of happiness when I feel down. Like Kai did. Just this time, he's not here. That's why I have to use my memory to make myself strong.

I have to be strong for her. Or him.

I carefully draw my palm through the thin, tender flowers. The blossoms tickle my palm, a touch, so soft that it could calm down the iciest heart. It sends a pleasant feeling down my stomach, to the tip of my toes, my smile gets even wider. I never admired flowers as much as I do now. Probably, because I've learned to admire every single thing. Or maybe, because my body is changing.
After all, I've noticed that it's not only my appearance that's changing. It's like that tiny life, growing inside me, makes me grow as a person. I find myself being more responsible, more careful. More attentive, and more neat. Oh, I thought that I will stay childish for my whole life. But no. That little Woods baby is changing me in every way possible.
"Hey, baby mamma!"
I turn around, the pleasant feeling of blossoms disappear between my fingers as I hear Kevin's voice behind me. He walks towards me down the narrow path, making a little dance with his hips, swaying them to the sides with each step. Keeping the smile on my face. Holding two paper cups of, probably, black tea with lemon in his hands that he got in the gas station.
"I thought you won't come back." I put a smile on my face.
"Uncle Kevin will never leave you!"
I let out a silent laugh as he hands me the warm cup of tea, which immediately reaches my nostrils. But I still keep my eyes on Kevin. Honestly, this pregnancy is changing everyone. Especially him. After he found out that I'm having a baby, he makes sure I have everything that I need, and want. He became more comfortable around me. He takes me out, to walk, to have dinner, or just to spend some time alone, watching me from the distance.
