My Review of Season 2 of The Bad Batch

WARNING!!! Spoilers for 'Star Wars: The Bad Batch' ahead.

Season 2 of The Bad Batch was definitely an excellent season of the show packed with lots of action and adventure, as always, but season 2 had more character development. Especially with Tech and Omega. Both as individual characters and as a pair. Crosshair had some too.

As an author, I look at not only the entertainment, but I commonly watch it again, and look at the storylines and character development.

Many say that Omega is very annoying, but I actually quite like her. Maybe it's an age thing, but she's really not that bad to me. She's just like any other child learning how to survive in the world (in her case, the galaxy). She often did reckless things in season 1, but with Tech as her teacher/trainer/mentor, she was able learn the do's and don'ts of things. She still does some reckless things in season 2, but it's less serious things...but at the end of the day, she's still a child.

Omega is 12-13 in season 2, meaning she's around teen years. She still doesn't have the skills to hide her emotions, and may struggle to understand why her brothers did what they did. She didn't understand why Tech sacrificed himself for her and his crew. She may have understood why Echo left, but she certainly had trouble excepting it, same with Tech.

Her relationship with Tech is often tested and strained. Because of Tech's enhanced mind, he often tells her things she already knows, when she was looking for comfort, like when he told her that the crew survived before Echo and will continue to with Echo gone, but Omega already knew that. Despite their...complicated relationship, Tech is still protective of Omega.

In season 2, Tech explains to her why he is like how he is sometimes. He explains that he may process thing differently, but he doesn't feel any less than Omega did. Another part of the reason is that he probably was brought up to keep his emotions hidden and in-check (even though he very very rarely grows angry). This helps their relationship grow and bloom and it makes him more memorable.

Tech's individuals character development wasn't as big as his development with his relationship with Omega, but he still did have some.

Phee Genoa is a pirate who we meet early on in the season. She lives on a remote, hidden island on Pabu. During the episode "Pabu", we see that Tech is acting kinda weird around Phee. They have a small, hinted romance between them. Tech probably hasn't experienced love before, so that might be something new for him. Their last conversation together was one where Tech was acting weird too, but that was their last interaction before his death.

Phee helped him look past his "device" and see the world through his own eyes and the beauty of nature, such as seeing the sun set on Pabu. Unfortunately, this moment was soon ruined after an incoming Sea Surge threatened to destroy the island.

Moving onto Crosshair, we finally see the moment we've all been waiting for: Crosshair's betrayal to the Empire. When we first see him in season 2, we already know he's still we've the Empire, but has promised to pretend that his brothers died during the fall of Topica City.

We slowly see Crosshair start to question why he's with the Empire, but his feeling of betrayal from being left behind by his brothers makes him stay.

Finally, when he Empire leaves him and his newly found friend, Mayday for dead, and when they refuse to treat Mayday's hyperthermia, causing him to die, Crosshair finally betrays the Empire by shooting an officer in the face, killing him.

Now we can only hope that he is rescued along with Omega in the third and final season.

Overall, it was a great season and I'd probably rate it about an 8/10. It had the ups, the downs, the heartbreaks, the heartwarming moments and everything else that made it a great show!
