"Don't tell her that you know", Tikki said. "I don't know how she'd react."
Chat Noir was still. He hadn't moved since he returned Marinette to her room. "I can't- I can't even..."
"I know", Tikki reassured. "It's a lot to take in right now."
"I fell in love with the same person twice", Chat Noir whispered. "They're the same person."
"You take as much time as you need-", Tikki was cut off by Marinette shifting in her sleep before her eyes fluttered open.
"Kitty?" Marinette whispered, her eyes still adjusting.
"Hey, you", Chat Noir smiled, grazing her face as her head lay on his lap. "How you doing, you okay?"
Marinette sat up a little more. "What happened?"
"Mayura", Chat Noir wanted to explain with little detail as possible. "She tried attacking you, but no worries, it's taken care of."
"Mayrua", Marinette repeated. "I should've known she'd be back."
Chat Noir nodded. "I thought so too."
"Why did she attack me?" Marinette questioned.
"She's jealous of how pretty you are", Chat Noir smiled.
Marinette gushed. "I knew you'd be there for me. You always are."
"I will always step in between you and a situation like that", Chat Noir reassured. "I'll always be here for you."
"What if that's not the last time, though? That Mayura attacks me?" Marinette's smile faded when she came to this realization.
"I'm going to protect you", Chat Noir stated. "I can't lose you, Marinette."
"Kiss me", Marinette pleaded.
"The problem is, if I kissed you right now", Chat Noir began. "I don't think I'll be able to stop."
"Who said that was an issue?" Marinette smirked.
-------------------------------------
"Do you ever wonder if we've met in another lifetime?" Marinette questioned, her head resting on Chat Noir's chest as they stargazed from her bed through her trapdoor.
"Mmm probably. And even there, I'd still most likely think you're a pain in the ass", Chat Noir laughed.
"Ha ha, very funny", Marinette lightly hit him on the shoulder.
"You know, the first second I saw you...I couldn't get over how beautiful you are. Seriously. You made me so nervous to talk to you. Even now I still do. Half the time, I get too embarrassed to say something to you and compliment you", Chat Noir admitted.
Marinette lifted her head, leveling her eyes with his. "Don't. Please say everything to me."
Chat Noir nodded, kissing her forehead in response. "Stargazing was a good idea."
"Yeah. But it's cold out, I kinda wanna close the door now", Marinette pushed the covers off of her.
Chat Noir stopped her from getting up. "Don't get up, I'll do it."
He grabbed the handle of the trapdoor, gently pulling it shut before lowering himself back on the bed.
"Thanks", Marinette ruffled his hair. "You know, you have the most amazing eyes."
"You may be the death of me", Chat Noir smiled. "I didn't think you could make me smile this big, but you do it every day."
Marinette giggled, snuggling closer to him. They laid in silence for a few moments. Marinette had closed her eyes, falling asleep, while Chat Noir lay wide awake.
