ep. 5 : one day at a time

Another day of practice.

Competition day is coming so we have to work harder and practice harder in order to win. We have to perfect the dance, it's now or never.

...

After our practice, we went to a basketball court to rest for a while. Near that court is a playground, some of us are resting and playing in the playground, while the boys just played basketball.

I was only seated with Jongho, we were listening to some music when my eyes caught someone familiarly disgusting.

My little brother, Jeon Yunho.

What the f*** is this kid doing in here with his friends?!

"Hey, Hana! isn't that your little brother?" Aera asked as I screamed internally when I saw that he was playing basketball with Mingi.

"Shoot. What is he doing in here?!" I blurted out. "Why? Don't you want him to see his big sister dancing?" Nayeon asked. "No! It's awkward!" I exclaimed.

"Ohmygosh. He's playing basketball with Mingi--" I internally squealed. "Who?" Chaemin asked. "Yunho. He's playing basketball with Mingi." I muttered.

"Ohh... is that your brother?" Ryujin asked. "Yeah, the one in blue wearing a blue cap too..." I replied as she nudged me.

"Your brother is tall and handsome~" she said as I looked at her, horrified. "What~?!" I was so horrified.

"It's true! Have you guys even seen Hana's older brother? He looks like a Kpop idol!" Ryujin still continued as I just left them and went back to sitting with Jongho.

"What's the matter?" Jongho asked. "My little bro is here... he's playing basketball with Mingi." I muttered as a smirk grew on his lips as he nudged me.

"What was that for?!" I exclaimed. "Nothing~" he said. "I feel so tired..." I said while looking down on my feet as I sat down on a bench with him.

"He's been looking at Areum for a few times now..." I muttered. "Who?" Jongho asked. "Mingi... he's been glancing a few times at Areum. And even Yohan was teasing him with Areum awhile ago..." I replied.

"I really have a feeling that Mingi likes Areum... I mean, who wouldn't? Even I had a crush on Areum before. She's beautiful like her name says itself, she's smart, she's kind--" and that's where Jongho stopped me.

"Kind??? I'm not so sure about that. You literally said it yourself. Areum was backstabbing your friends and our classmates during your group project. Especially Mingi. she said harsh words about Mingi during that day too, didn't you say that?" Jongho said.

"That's not wrong at all but... I don't know. If you look at Areum, it's obvious that everyone has a crush on her. And if you look at the way Mingi looks at her, it's obvious that he likes her." I muttered.

"I agree though. I see it too." Jongho muttered. "See? You agree with me, right?" I asked as he nodded.

"But you said so, yourself. Mingi doesn't want to be in a relationship. His motto in life is that girlfriends and crushes are distraction in making dreams come true." Jongho stated.

"I know. But what if Areum changed his mind? I got nothing on her..." I said. Jongho shook his head. "I doubt that. Areum has nothing compared to you. You're literally gorgeous, EXTREMELY talented and kind! Who wouldn't fall for that?" Jongho said, emphasizing the word 'EXTREMELY' making me let out a bitter chuckle as I looked down on my feet.

"You know, you shouldn't down yourself too much. I'm sure, there's still time. What if he's just confused and he's starting to fall for you too?" Jongho said as I closed my eyes intently.

"Here we go again with the what ifs..." I muttered.

"I'm just saying, okay? Maybe he really is falling for you because I can see how he looks at you too... and you know, I ain't lying when it comes to feelings included." Jongho said as I nodded.

"Cheer up, sis!" He said and nudged me as I finally managed to put a smile on my face but still, I couldn't help but look down on my feet. It's not that my feet is attractive or there's something about the floor, I just got used to doing that.

"Hey! I'll buy you ice cream if we win the competition!" Jongho said as my face brightened up as I finally looked up at him. "Really?!" I asked in excitement.

"Yeah, I'll buy you ice cream. IF we win! But if we don't then, I'll still buy ice cream but it will be for me only~" he said in a teasing tone, emphasizing the word 'If' as I frowned.

"Hey! Everyone! Let's get back to practice! Let's practice harder if you guys make us lose, I will not get my precious ice cream!!!" I yelled to everyone who was in the basketball court.

Jongho chuckled.

"Wow. Ice cream does make you feel a lot better, huh?" Jongho asked as I nodded excitedly. "Of course! Ice cream is everything!" I exclaimed, happily.

"My cravings and my goal for this month is, ICE CREAM!!!" I yelled as Jongho chuckled softly.
