"Bakit daw last minute naman? Pini-personal naman yata nila si Anie palibhasa Reino De Alba?" napipikong kumento ni tito Arevalo.

Nalaman na nila ang last-minute cancelation sa dapat ay magiging trabaho ko sa Manila kaya ngayon ay nabubwisit si tito. Nakakainis naman kasi! I already packed my stuff! Bakit kung kailan paalis na ako ay saka sasabihing hindi raw ako kasama sa first batch?

"Maybe this has something to do with us being good friends with the De Veras. Baka pakiramdam nila ay magiging threat si Anie lalo na at maraming naroon na dating kalaban ng mga De Vera. Isa pa, hindi naman sikreto na posibleng tumakbo si kuya Armani sa national position. We all know how politics work," si tito Argus na pinakakalmado sa magkakapatid ngayon.

"Well, not only that? Hindi sila tinatantanan ni Tisha. Baka isa rin ang investigations ng anak mo sa dahilan kung bakit ayaw na nilang kunin si Anie," tito Arevalo added.

Daddy sighed. "Naisip ko na rin 'yan. Kaso paano naman si Anie? She's been looking forward to this job."

"Bakit hindi na muna pag-apply-in sa private security companies? Iyong mga high-end? Let her earn her experience first so she can show them that she's really passionate about her job," tito Argus suggested.

"Well, she is passionate," si Daddy.

"Kuya, we cannot make everyone think that way," sagot naman ni tito Argus.

I pursed my lips. He's right. I could go spend my entire day telling people how much I wanted to do this, but if they wouldn't see me in action, they might never believe my version of truth.

Parang sa karera lang iyan ng pamilya namin. We could do everything to prove that the politicians in our family just wanted to serve, but as long as they think we only want the power, they will never like our family.

Mabuti na iyong ipinakikita ng pamilya naming nais talaga naming magsilbi. Kahit galing na sa sariling bulsa, basta kalamidad ay nakaantabay ang pamilya namin.

Kahit sinasabi na gusto lamang namin ng political dynasty, naging bingi na lamang sila dahil kaya lamang sila-sila ang nasa posisyon ay dahil madalas na hindi nagkakasundo sa agenda ang ibang pulitiko. Some don't even do their jobs once they're in their seats already. Hindi ko sinasabing perpektong mga pulitiko ang galing sa pamilya namin, ngunit nagtutulungan sila para maibalik ang tiwala ng tao sa gobyerno. Na maniniwalang muli ang masa na may mga pulitiko pa ring ang ikabubuti ng iba ang iniisip at talagang nais lamang nilang magsilbi.

Maybe if I could prove that I really want this job then someone would take a chance on me and would separate me from the rest of my family. Kaso . . . private security companies? Saan naman?

"Anie, are you familiar with the RS Security Agency?" tanong ni Daddy sa akin.

Kumunot ang aking noo. "RS? Isn't that the same company where the MCB hire their bodyguards and security personnels, Dad?"

"Yes. Your tito Jael just chatted me. He said RS is willing to hire you if you really wanna gain your experience by working in private companies. Nakausap na raw niya ang owner."

I gulped. "S-Sino ang . . . babantayan, Dad kung sakali?"

"I'm not sure yet but you can discuss that with RSSA. Do you wanna give it a go?"

Tumuwid ako ng upo bago ako tumango. "I'm willing to work for them, Dad. Kaysa masayang lang ang mga pinag-aralan ko."

Daddy jerked his head. Halatang naaawa sa akin dahil nag-expect talaga ako nang husto tapos ay ito naman ang nangyari. Nakakapikon!

Isa pa, I was really looking forward to staying at Khalid's place. I thought I'd get to spend more time with him. Tapos ay ganito naman. Paano kung sa Monte Costa ako madestino? Hindi na matutuloy ang plano na roon ako sa bahay ni Khalid mananatili.

Frustration clawed me but I still agreed to apply at RSSA. Nang natapos ang usapan namin nina Daddy ay umakyat ako sa aking kwarto at tinawagan si Khalid.

It only took a few rings before he answered my video call. Bumungad sa akin ang pawisan niyang mukha. Ang hubad na itaas na katawan ay natatakpan lamang ng tuwalyang nakasabit sa may leeg.

I had to pinch myself so I wouldn't stare at him for too long. Pinanood ko lamang siyang punasan ng tuwalya ang kanyang mukha bago siya naupo sa bench ng gym.

"Where are you, Daddy?" I asked.

"Home gym, baby. Nagpapawis lang." He moistened his lips in an effortlessly sexy way. "Jael called me. Is it true that the agency that's supposed to hire you canceled your application?"

I sighed. "Yeah. I'm really disappointed."

"Do you want me to pull some strings? Baka kung ako ang gagawa ng paraan, hindi masyadong halata."

I shook my head. "No, Daddy. I think working under RSSA would benefit me anyway," sabi ko na lamang.

I know him. He'd do anything just to get me that job. Ayaw kong makaapekto pa sa kanya itong nangyayari sa pausbong ko pa lamang na career.

"RSSA is a great company, too. Our family hires security personnels from them as well."

"Really?" Naupo ako sa edge ng kama. "Well, it would be nice to work as your personal bodyguard, though," I joked but he smirked and lifted a brow.

"Pwede naman. That's a win-win. You can guard me twenty-four seven, and I can guard you, too . . . from your potential suitors, obviously."

Kunwari ay sumimangot ako. "Well, if that's the case then I should pay you, too huh?"

Lumawak ang kurba sa kanyang mga labi. "Nah, baby. You can just cook for me and we'll call it quits."

I rolled my eyes jokingly. "Kaso mahirap kang bantayan, Daddy. Baka mamaya ay may kasama kang babae. I might see stuff that will boil my blood."

He scoffed. "Mi flor, I told you. I'm too old to still play around. I'm not into relationships anymore."

I pouted. "Are you sure? No other girls while we're guarding each other?"

"Cross my heart."

I smirked. "Then tell tito Ja that you wanna hire me and I'll be at your doorstep even before they're done drafting my contract."

Khalid ran his fingers onto his damp hair while his wild obsidian eyes are glued on the screen, obviously looking at me.

"Cool. I'll see you then, mi flor."

I smiled. "See you, Daddy. Love you."

"Love you the most, baby."

Pigil ko ang kilig hanggang sa maputol ang tawag, ngunit nang maalalang magkaiba nga pala kami ng ibig sabihin sa salitang huling sinabi ay napabuntonghininga ako.

I guess I only have two options now. Forget about my silly feelings for him or make him fall for me romantically, too.

I'm sure the latter would be difficult, but the first one would be harder for me to do.

Naihilamos ko ang aking mga palad sa aking mukha. Bahala na. If I have to seduce him then I will.

Kahit magmukha pa akong gaga at pagalitan ni Daddy sa binabalak ko . . .
