July 10th 2022

Two days since I've talked to her. She wasn't coming this weekend, she told me and I knew it, but I still hoped she would come. The race was in less than a hour but I wasn't prepared for it. All I could think about was Lila, how she was, what happened the other night, if there was a problem. I wanted to see her so badly.

"Pierre, are you okay ?" asked my engineer.

"I need to focus."

"Good, because we need those points."

It wasn't the time to think. He was right. I needed to be focused on the race. I couldn't let my thoughts of her disrupte me. I would try to do something with her later.

I put on my jumpsuit and my earplugs for the radio and put my helmet on. I was now in my own world. Anthoine was there with me, smiling. And Charles was next to him. That was it, all I needed. I was ready to race.

~~~
It was a nightmare. A five second penalty to finish fifteenth. The only good thing was that Charles finished first, and we were going to celebrate his victory. The season had been hard for Ferrari and I knew this victory was needed for the mental of the team. However in my team, things were more difficult. But tonight wasn't about me, it was about Charles, and Charles needed my support.
But I couldn't stop thinking about her.
"Pierrot, tu dois arrêter de penser à elle." said Charles. Did he just read my mind ?
"I'm not thinking about her."
"Yes, you are."
He wasn't going to get me this time.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I am."
I knew I said something wrong when he started laughing. God, every single time !
"You asshole !"
"Just like a child."
As a mature answer, I stuck out my tongue with a strange face.
"You tricked me !"
"And you lied to me."
"I did not lie. I just changed the truth a little bit."
"Isn't that the point of lying ?"
I tried to come up with a better answer but I couldn't.
"You're annoying."
"And you like her."
"Maybe." I sighed.
"You have to stop thinking about her Pierre. She's not an easy woman."
"I think I figured it out by now."
"So stop thinking about her."
"I can't and you know that so stop laughing like an idiot."
"I can't and you know that." he said, still laughing. "But you have to do something about it."
"What ?"
"I don't know, talk to her."
"But what do I say ?"
"Talk to her !"
"But what do I say ?!"
I hated the fact that I was starting to sound like a five-year old kid.
