Chapter 24

F/N's P.O.V.

It's 9:00am already when I woke up and got dressed to visit someone. Just have to make a quick stop to get some flowers and then beon my way.

In the halls, I bumped into Shoto.

"Oh, morning F/N-chan." He greeted.
"Morning Shoto-kun!"
"You're going out?"
"Yeah. Just gotta take care of something first. Don't worry, I'll be back in time for dinner.
"Take your time. But please be careful out there."
"I will! See ya!"

I walked out the door to the flower shop, and then to the hospital where Rei is. The receptionist pointed me to the room where she was. I knocked and waited for an answer to come inside.

"The door is open! Come in!" The voice said from the other side of the door. I peaked inside first and then walked in.
"Hello?"

She was standing up as she turned to see me. Unexpectedly, she ran towards me and hugs me.

"Oh, L/N! Thank goodness you're ok!" She said, holding my face gently with both hands, "I saw what happened in the news. About the villains and the accident. Nevermind that! I'm so glad you're alive!"
"Thank you for your concern." I softly said.

It felt strange. I see Rei as a mother figure to me. All I could think about was if my real mom was still around, she wouldn't care. But this woman... Her concern and love for me was so heartwarming. Shoto has a wonderful mother, I just wish things were better for all of his family.

"Come. Let's talk for a bit." She got a chair for me and sat next to me to talk.

It was mostly about Shoto,  how papa was doing after the accident, how I've been dealing with everything, and some other things. The time I spent there was soothing and helped clear my head a bit.

"Mrs. Todoroki..?" I start.
"Dear, you know you can call me Rei if you're comfortable with it." She assured after seeing my hesitation.
"Right... Rei, thank you so much for this short time. I wish we had all the time in the world to do this more often, because... well, you're aware that I had... An absent mother. But now, I would consider you as a motherly figure, you're so sweet, kind, and willing to listen. Honestly, I would say that I'm a bit jealous of Shoto having a great mother despite the circumstances. I just wanted to say, thank you. That's all."

"L/N... You're very sweet as well. I also see you as family. Despite your mother abandoning you, I promise you that I'll be here when you need me. Just say the word."

I hug her again, a bit shaky in my body as I embrace her as she did the same and whispered a thank you in her ear trying not to cry.

"I should get going before they kick me out. I'll come back soon, Rei."
"Please do. I'd love to spend more time with you."

I smile as I leave the building. I was now on my way to the other hospital where papa was. During the walk, I hear my phone ring. It was Midoriya-kun.

"Hello?"
"Hey, F/N-chan! How are you feeing?"
"A bit overwhelmed. On my way to see papa right now. What about you?"
"Still trying to figure out that text you sent me. I showed it to All Might and is having the police investigate it while I do some research on my own. You really think someone did this on purpose?"
"How else would papa have that scar on him? This had to be someone targeting him... or even me."
"Tatsuya?"
"No. This doesn't seem to be him. He wouldn't take things this far, would he?"
"He's a villain, we never know what they're thinking to do."
"Yeah, but why target papa of all people?"
"*sigh* This isn't getting us anywhere. We have so many questions. Listen, we'll try to get some info and see this whole thing through. Don't worry, ok? No one else is gonna get hurt."
"I hope you're right."
"In any case, if you need anything from me, you know where to find me, ok?"
"...Thanks Midoriya-kun."
"Always there to help."
