Author's note: as a non-poly person writing over topics I have no first-hand experience about, I found it imperative to use books and articles as well as some scientific publications in order to not mess around and give a decent representation of poly families.

Unfortunately, the books I used the most and which inspired the Demogorgons' characters (yes, I know you're wondering who they are, you'll find out soon), and many useful reflections about the differences between various countries, are not available in English. But I'll add the other sources at the end of the story so those who are interested (or feels they don't understand In-ah) will be able to get a look.

In the while, I kindly invite you to read the note at the end of the chapter as soon as you'll see the symbol "(1)." It's necessary to understand the story.

Lastbut not least: another uberlong chapter again but this too is divided intoparts (short stories actually) so no need to read it all at once. Also: be carefulbecause, after the first lines, all the stories are flashbacks.

Siamo fuori di testa

Ma diversi da loro

(We're crazy, but (at least) we're different from them. Maneskin, Zitti e buoni)

Lapland, 204something, nearly 2050

"One day we'll bring you to the feline psychologist and we'll check this obsession you have for the washer."

Argo, that was his name. "Like Odysseus dog" Sik had explained, "Odysseus' dog spent his life waiting for his master and was the first to recognize him when Odysseus eventually returned to Ithaca." Easy to guess why someone who was always abroad for work could appreciate such a name but...

"Sik, Argo was Odysseus' dog."

"Exactly. This will be the upgrade. Cats are dog's upgrade."

Thus, Argo. Princess Leia's brother. Patriarchy, In-ah liked to say, was when two men wanted one cat and one woman wanted zero cats and the family ended up adopting two cats.

Sik had succeeded in his cat project by using the only logic that would have categorically won Jeong Hyeok to his side: terror.

"Think of it: three adults living together? Weirdos, everybody would chat over us. But three adults and a cat? Middle aged bourgeois. Too boring to spend a word on them."

And not that there was really need for those words, for the pianist already wanted a cat more than everything else – unfortunately...cough cough...someone had forgotten to transmit this information to Sik – but after a such brilliant argument, it only took 2 seconds before Jeong Hyeok started googling the closest shelter. And every time they were with new people, he never failed to casually drop the cats' topic. Just in case.

When the human with the long fur used the grumpy tone, Argo didn't even bother to lift his ears. "Here we are again," the feline thought while exhibiting the widest yawn he could. He had to show her he was too relaxed to acknowledge her presence.

Such a buffoon, that long-fur human. Disturbing him when he was in the washer, but who was the one who always left the washer's door slightly open so he could have his blessed naps? It was like when she threatened "Argo, only healthy food today!" holding a bowl of odourless kibble, and then drifted him juicy salmon when nobody was watching.
