Chapter 3: Elizabeth

A chill runs up my spine as her energy resonates with my senses. I stand stiffly and feel the tension of all the fallen angels pour through the room. Several people hiss under their breath,"Arch Angel..."

I clench my jaw and say in the most controlled voice I can muster,"You shouldn't be here...."

"You shouldn't as well...", she replies cooly

Rhiannon stands and hovers right behind my shoulder, a small growl rumbling in her chest. Atretes stands at my other shoulder, tension pouring off his body. I can feel the tension in his muscles and i'm not even touching him.

There she stands at the door, her wings coming out of her back. She wears a white, long sleeve dress that goes to about the middle of her thigh. The dress is skin tight and the bottom and cuffs are trimmed in gold. Gold heels are hooked to her feet and her light blonde hair is pinned back with several gold clips.

Her blue eyes connect with mine and I clench my jaw. "I'll take care of this...", I say to everyone in the room and walk to her.

I shove her out into the hall and slam the door shut behind me, hissing,"What are you doing here?!"

Her glare cuts into me like a knife,"I could sense you up on the street! Don't you have a way to tame your power?!"

I glare back,"As a matter of fact, I don't. I can't control anything about me."

"You can control who you associate with!"

A cold laugh comes out if my mouth,"As can you, but you still hang out with those pieces of filth!"

She scoffs,"Pieces of filth? The arch angels are far from filth. At least they have their wings."

"I don't understand how you think that's insulting to me, because last time I checked I still had my wings!"

She pinches the bridge of her nose,"just a minute. Your outfit is insulting me!" She snaps and my outfit sets aflame. The black turning to pure white and the silver into gold. "There. Just as it should be."

"I was wearing black and silver-"

"The fallen custom.", she cuts me off.

"The fallen custom,", I continue. "because it would seem like showing off to them that I'm still able to enter heaven when they can't."

"You shouldn't be near them! Let along talking to them! So what does it matter if you show off?!", she says stubbornly

"You have no idea what is actually going on, do you?"

"I just know that if you keep it up, you're going to lose your rank Elizabeth! That's a rank you'll never achieve again! You're at the top! There's no one above you except God!"

"We are all equal!", I remind her of our teachings.

"Yes, we may be equal with the way we treat each other. You must admit though, you have more power than the rest of us!"

I nod,"I will say that I've been blessed with strength."

She shakes her head,"Not just strength, but wisdom, knowledge! Don't you understand?! You're risking everything for some petty friendships!"

I nearly punch her,"Petty friendships?! These are our brothers! Our sisters! How can you stand to see them suffer?!"

"How can you stand to be near their sinning?! They are corrupt! Evil!"

"No, you're the evil one and I won't rest until justice has been fulfilled."

"Then you will fall with the rest of them."

"So be it then. Eve."
