Chapter Three:A Certain Line Crossed And A New Home

Seeing that the incident was the same as edgerunners I needed to do something about it, I can't change the future to much because that would cause problems but. . . I just need to help them out. . . Change some things. . . Make it more than just a sad ending. . . A bittersweet one would have been better for my taste, even if I can't save them all just one or two.

'Zero:Can you cover my face with your slime for a sec? Without blinding me.'

???:*Whispers.* Why?

'Zero:Just trust me on this. . .'

???:*Whispers* Ok. But don't open your mouth while I'm doing it.

I nod and duck my head as it begins to cover my face in its slime while leaving some holes for me to see, it feels oddly nice, but what's weird is when it hardens, surprising me a little but I didn't have time for that as I rushed towards the highway and towards my intended target.

'Zero:He's still unconscious until trauma gets here. I have about a few minutes, maybe less so I gotta hurry.'

I kept running and looking around until I spotted a familiar lime car toppled over with a teen inside, unconscious and mostly fine but her mother however wasn't, I couldn't save her even with what I currently have. She's a lost cause but maybe she'll live. . . But that's wishful thinking. Taking the knife out, I used it to pry open the car door until it pops open. I then cut the seatbelt off David and dragged him out as he woke up. I set him far enough away and rushed to grab his mother but the trauma team had already come in as I was picking her up.

Zero:Not the client. . . They're in the limo over there. . .

The trauma team members took a look at me and then David's mom and one of them approached me with a scanner cautiously and scanned the both of us, and after confirming we aren't the clients they rushed towards the limo as I brought David's mom to him.

David:Who the hell-

Zero:No time to talk kid, help me get your mom to the hospital before she dies here.

David wanted to ask who I was but with her mother being more important than a stranger's name he directed me towards a familiar hospital.

Time passes. . . A change in scene. . .

David was talking with the doctor while I was leaning on the wall patiently waiting while at the same time, thinking about what I just did.

'Zero:This feels like an out of body experience. . . Like I'm not even here. . . Looking at the scene I saw in the anime with my own two eyes. . . Seeing, hearing, smelling everything. . . It's weird. . . I never thought about it. . . I've been stuck in a void for years and everything I do now feels natural, too natural.'

???:*Whispers* A first time for everything I guess. . . How's the mask I made you? Not having any problems with it? It's pretty much my first time making something out of my own body.

'Zero:Good enough to hide my face, and it's hard enough to protect me from a shot or two if that ever happens, I don't know how easy it is to take off though.'

???:*Whispers* You're not gonna use me as a mask dispenser are you?

'Zero:No. I'll get my own, I know my way around tech due to my occupation back then oddly enough, but not as advanced as this. I might need to read about it.'

Just then I heard footsteps coming over to me as I looked up and saw a bruised yet alive David approaching.

David:Hey, thanks for helping me with my mom, name's David by the way.

Zero:Name's Zero. And it's nothing really, you needed help and I knew those trauma team members weren't gonna help you so I just had to. Don't worry you don't owe me anything, And I'm sure we'll see each other again someday, I just have a feeling that we will, for now stay safe and good luck kid. *Starts walking off*
