Loud chattering were heard from the Gryffindor table. Athena knew why. Flying classes were right around the corner! She was really, really looking forward to this as she had already ridden a broom. She wanted to show-off. Athena adored quidditch. She knew she won't be able to get into the team this year, but she wanted to be ready as she was going to try out next year.
It wasn't only her who was looking forward but the whole lot of Gryffindor's were. Not to say, even Slytherin's. Draco ranted on how good he was at flying brooms.
The only people nervous about the flying were Hermione and Neville. Neville always being himself, was nervous for almost everything. Athena was always by his side to comfort him and help him any time. Hermione was nervous because this wasn't something you could by heart.
The Gryffindor's and Slytherin's went to the grounds for flying lessons. Flying was taught by Madam Hooch, a women with grey hair and amber eyes like a hawk.
"Good Morning" she said with stiffness in her voice.
"Good Morning madam Hooch" the students drawled.
"Step to the left side of your broom," she said and the students followed."Raise your right hand and say UP."
"UP" Athena yelled. The broom flew right into her hands. She glanced at Harry, who's broom also flew to his hand. Ron's broom hit his face - Athena chuckled at the sight - and Hermione's only shook near the ground.
"When I blow my whistle," Madam Hooch began "kick of the ground, hard. On the count of three. One, two..."
But before she could say three, Neville was already in the air! Athena gasped. She was getting worried about him. Neville's broom did some loops and Neville fell off. Athena ran after Madam Hooch, who was going for his aid.
"Let's see, a broken wrist..." She said. Athena looked at Neville with a concern look. "Everyone is to keep their feet firmly on the ground. If I see any broom on the air, they will be on the Hogwarts express on the way back to their home before I could say quidditch" she warned.
"Hey look, Longbottom has dropped something." Draco said picking something from the ground. It was Neville's remembrall.
"Give it here Malfoy" Harry demanded.
Draco just smirked. "Sticking up for Longbottom, is it Potter."
"Give it back Draco!" Athena yelled. Draco was shocked being addressed by his first name.
"I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find." He said as he took of on his broom.
Athena mounted her, ready to take off, just as she saw that Harry was doing the same.
"No, stop, both of you. Madam Hooch said -" but didn't finish as Harry and Athena were already in the air. Athena was faster than Harry as she had ridden a broom before.
"Give it here Malfoy, or else I will knock you off your broom." Harry threatened.
"Oh no, I am scared" Draco mocked.
Just as Draco was smirking, Harry charged towards Draco. Draco had managed to duck in time.
"Your henchmen are not here to save your neck Draco." Athena warned.
"Catch it then" Draco said as he threw the remembrall.
"Harry second tower from the right and fourth window from the top!" Athena yelled as she flew behind the remembrall. Harry seemed to get the message as he flew towards the window. Athena hit the remembrall towards Harry, as her broom was a bit long for her to bend and catch the remembrall. Harry caught the remembrall and descended. Even Athena. The time they were on the ground, they were surrounded. Harry and Athena were grinning like maniacs, because the look on Draco's face was priceless.
