Over the past week you and Nat have called each other nearly every night, she has probably become one of your closest friends in under a week. Tomorrow you start your fancy new job, your looking forward to it but also nervous, it's a big change before you worked in a little underpaid shop at the edge of the city. You fixed computers restored the hardware, restored the software, same old dull things everyday. You were ready for this change.

You go to bed that night setting your alarm half an hour earlier. You eyes ping open at the first beep, your a light sleeper so it doesn't take much to wake you up in the morning, actually getting up however, that's a different story. You snooze your alarm only once this morning a record compared to your average 5 snoozes. You had laid out the outfit by your chair the night before but after putting it on and realising it doesn't quite fit you the way you would like it to you rummage through your wardrobe and pull out a classy skirt, white blouse and matching blazer. You tie your hair up into a single french plait, grab your coat and make it out of the front door. You stop off at your regular coffee shop deciding that Starbucks would be too busy, you order an iced latte and a packet of sushi.

You finish your coffee just before you reach the main entrance and throw the cup away. You make your way to the front desk and introduce yourself, the lady gives you a badge with your name and picture on it and tells you what floor you need to go to. You step in the elevator and you phone pings.

"Good luck 😊-N"

You smile to yourself and get off at floor number 40, still amazed at the 93 stories this building has. You step out and are gob smacked at the rows and rows of computers each one with a holographic pad next to it. You have no idea which is your seat  or even if they have assigned seats, so you just sit down at a free space.

You start tapping away at you computer analysing the security of Stark's data base, your job is to prevent hacking, improve the cyber security in the whole of America, especially New York, especially the avengers. Your job is the key. You fail, everything crumbles. It's a little early yet but you already know what you want to specialise in, security and engine function on Stark jets and space ships. You pull up a hologram of the latest jet and with your pencil start adjusting parts, zooming in rotating parts around the engines, you've got the hang of it already.

At the end of the day you send Natasha a text telling her how good your day was, she responds asking you if you were up for that celebratory drink yet. "I'm already at home took you an hour to reply 🙄" you respond slightly annoyed as you would have loved to spend the evening with her. Instead you put a ready meal mac and cheese into the microwave and wait for it to heat up.
Ding dong.
You go to get the door by the time you open it no one's there. Probably the teens who live downstairs it seems their favourite game to play when they're bored is ding dong ditch, it's a weekly occurrence and quite frankly it's getting boring. Just as you are about to shut the door your favourite red head slips half way in. "Surprise!" She exclaims with jazz hands, a bottle of Prosecco in each hand. You open the door to let her in and ask her if she would like to share the mac and cheese which you. You walk over to the beeping microwave and get out two bowls.
"Where are your wine glasses?" Nat asks you her head inside a cupboard.
You walk over to her and reach in the cupboard below and grab two champagne flutes. She takes them off you and ushers you onto a seat at the kitchen table. "You. Sit." She points to you and then the chair. "This is my gift to you m'lady." She says in a British accent whilst bowing. You chuckle.
"But you've never been here before, you don't know where anything is."
"So?" She dishes out the mac'n cheese and serves it to you a long with cutlery and your glass. She then takes her own and places them next to you.
"You got a lovely place," Nat says in between her mouthfuls.
"Haha, not quite the avengers tower." You respond.
"No, not quite but still. Good enough."
It certainly is good enough you love this place.

After about half an hour later you both get up to clear the plates away, now starting on the second bottle.

You look out the window and see that the sun is starting to set.
"Okay, I have something to show you." You make your way up the stairs and onto the penthouse roof. Natasha follows behind and you both lie on a rickety old bed, sometimes you sleep out here in the summer if your prepared to get eaten alive by bugs and midges.
"Wow." Nat breathes, stunned by the view.
"Oh yeah like you don't get this view from your fancy tower everyday," You teased.
"No I don't," "my window faces the other way and I generally don't have time to make my way up all the floors and sit on the roof."
You raise your eyebrows you genuinely thought this would be nothing special for her but glad that it was.

You talked for hours you told her all about your day, every little detail, and she told you about hers.
"Hey, did I ever thank you for saving my life?"
"Pftt, saving your life," She mutters, "You would've got out without me."
"Maybe. Maybe not. But I certainly wouldn't be laying with you now, I wouldn't even know you."
"Yeah." She sighs and leans her head on your shoulder. The sun had completely set now and you were both just staring up at the stars.

"I should probably get back to the tower now," Nat says sleepily.
"Mhmm," you respond not wanting her to go.
"Want me to follow you back in case you get a bag thrown over your head?"
She chuckles,
"I think I'll be alright but thanks Y/N."  You give her a smile and force yourself to stand up.
You take in the now empty glasses and bottles and place the by the sink, catching a glimpse of the time on the oven clock, 10:07.
"You're getting a cab back right?" You ask genuinely concerned.
"You don't have to worry about me you know i'm an avenger." She says striking a superhero pose. "But yes I will, I don't really fancy walking 3 miles at 10pm." She gives you a reassuring smile.
"Thanks for the Prosecco." You call behind her and she gives you a thumbs up.

You go back inside and fill up a small watering can and water Rick. You get into your pyjamas
and crawl under the covers and as soon as your head hits the pillow you're out like a light.
