Later that night, I wake up next to Cole to something unexpected.
I shove him, waking him up. "Cole, Cole, Cole. Cole get up!" I start yelling.
He rubs his eyes, rolls over, and sits up. "Wha- What?"
I look him, my lip quivering, eyes tearing up. "I'm bleeding."
Cole puts on a shirt and without a word, slowly and carefully helps me to the car.
We both know, I just don't want to believe it. The whole car ride is filled with emptiness.
After the Doctor finishes reading all the test results, he tells me exactly what I didn't want to hear.
"I'm so sorry for your loss Ms. Regan, but you had a miscarriage."
I wimper and start balling my eyes out as Cole puts his hands in his head so I can't tell if he's crying or not. But then I start to hear other whimpers coming from next to me.
I look up to Cole through my blurry eyes that are filled with tears.
He just looks back at me with the greatest sadness in his eyes, which doesn't help because it just tears me apart.
