My arms are wrapped around Cole's neck as we stand in front of the plane, saying goodbye.
"Don't forget about me." I chuckle, trying to lighten the moment.
"I love you." he tells me.
I swallow. "I know, because I love you too."
"I promise I won't be gone too long."
"I know. We're kind of making it seem like you're going off to war or something."
We laugh.
He smiles at me and stares me in the eyes. Then the final call for his plane is announced.
"Goodbye." I choke out and we slowly detach and he walks off to his plane.
I can't stand to just stand there and watch him leave so I start to walk away as I fight off tears and run my fingers through my hair.
