Jooyeon could tell his father was still upset from their argument last night since he avoided looking at him this morning at breakfast. He told his mother that he was being given the silent treatment again, but she disagreed, stating that his father wasn't feeling well, but he knew—and she knew—it was a lie.
The atmosphere in the Lee household had never been so dense, though this was something that Jooyeon had grown to become used to, unlike his friend who had brought it up the moment he stepped inside the house to hang out with Jooyeon.
Sunwoo had been his friend since fifth grade, so as you'd assume, they knew pretty much everything about each other. Sunwoo was the first person he would always go to for help, and he was also there during the most significant moments in his life—such as the day in seventh grade when he realized he wasn't attracted to girls in the same way that all the other guys in their year were. He felt down and out of place as if his whole existence was a mistake in itself, but Sunwoo was there to show him that there was nothing wrong with liking who he liked.
He was there when he discovered he had a passion for music and chose to pursue it. Of course, Sunwoo didn't think it was a good idea at first, but he soon became a familiar face among the small crowds that Jooyeon would perform for, applauding his name and congratulating him on his achievements.
Jooyeon had grown up hearing from his father that it was wrong to display one's emotions, so when something disturbed him, he'd always turn a blind eye to it and put on a happy façade so as not to concern others. He still does it from time to time, but having Sunwoo as a friend encouraged him to express his emotions rather than suppress them.
That being said, given how long they've been friends, you'd think they knew what to expect when one would vent to the other, but nothing, nothing compares to this.
"You're moving to Daegu!?" Sunwoo shouts, staring at his friend in disbelief of what he just said.
"Could you say it any louder?" Jooyeon asks, "And for the last time—no, no I am not." He tells him, "I mean, that is the plan, but I need permission to do it first."
"You haven't asked your parents yet?!" Again, Sunwoo shouts and Jooyeon's hands fly up to cover his mouth.
"Are you trying to get me in trouble?"
Sunwoo shakes his head and the younger removes his hands, "Sorry, it's just... I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this." He says, "You're saying that Gunil, the Gunil, personally texted you asking if you were still up to do the gig for him? And you said no? Hey, are you crazy?"
