Jooyeon has given thought to running away many times—it wasn't something that he would think about a lot at first, but recently, after every time his father pops a lid off another bottle of soju and proceeds to let out all his anger on him and his wife, or when he makes a crude remark about his dreams of becoming a rockstar; that he'll never make it far in life by doing something that is meant to be a hobby, it had become an idea that started to frequent his mind more and more lately. Despite that, he has never once gone through with it, as he was too afraid of what might follow—or as his peers at school would say: he was too much of a coward.

Today though was the day he finally proved them all wrong, he just didn't know it yet.

The following day wasn't much better, not that Jooyeon expected it to be anything different than every other day anyway.

To start things off, he woke up with the most painful headache which he assumed was from crying so much yesterday, not only that but he had at least a hundred missed calls and unread messages from his parents. One specific one from his father made him chuckle a bit, saying stuff along the lines of 'Please come back', 'I'm sorry for making you feel this way', and 'I didn't mean anything I said'—the idea of his father actually caring seemed so unreal to him he couldn't help it.

Making things worse, someone had chosen not to come into work today at the chicken restaurant, meaning he had to come in to take a shift despite not even being on the working schedule today.

His uncle, his father's younger brother, owned the restaurant. This caused him to be a bit reluctant about accepting the job offer since he assumed, judging by them being brothers and all, that he'd be similar to his father–or maybe even worse. Luckily for him though, his assumptions were quickly proven wrong when he first met the older man, making him question how he and his father were even related in the first place by how kind and nice he was, which was quite literally the opposite of his father's entire personality.

"Thank you, we hope to see you again," Jooyeon says, handing a woman a bag with her to-go boxes inside while putting on his best customer service smile. She smiles back and takes the bag from his hold, bowing her head as a thank you as she moved towards the exit, him giving her a small wave of goodbye before she left.

"Jooyeonie-ah!" Comes the voice of his coworker, Yongsoo. He was four years older than him and the son of his uncle. He was somewhat of the annoying type since he would always tease Jooyeon about the most ridiculous things. Still, Jooyeon always knew he was joking despite the serious expression he would have every time--he may joke around with Jooyeon sometimes, but he would never hurt his feelings intently.

Yongsoo was like the older brother that Jooyeon never had, and it shows in the way they interact; they would annoy each other as much as humanly possible but would turn around and act sweet towards each other mere minutes later, especially when one would need to vent or receive advice about something.
