This could either be the most delightful or torturing hour of Heejung's evening.
Here she is, up and out with the man she once claimed as her husband in the middle of the night, miles away from home where she should be, doing exactly the mere thing they've done in the past.
She didn't know how this turned out to be. All she planned was go home and be under the comforts of her sheets, stealing back the lost rest she well deserved to have. However, she is here, in the market, tagging along Sehun as he picks some fresh fruit and necessities for his home.
Not too much words were uttered. Just some casual inquiries from him asking which could be better, powder or liquid, this toothpaste or that, this bag of chips or that. All to which Heejung truthfully replied according to her taste.
She chuckled upon another question he threw to her. "Why ask me? Shouldn't you be buying what you're already accustomed buying?"
"I just want to test out other products." He habitually scrunched his nose, which she wordlessly found quite cute.
"Well, I'm not really that reliable 'cause I've only been here not that long."
"Really?" He turned to her as they casually walked side by side the aisle. "How long have you been here?"
"2 months now." His brows rose in interest.
"You must've missed everything then."
"Not really. It's not like it's been a decade since I last went home. I go home at least once a year."
"I know."
"What?" She turned to him, confused.
"What?" He returned the look, surprised.
"What do you know?"
"I-I mean, I know!" His tone altered. "Of course, it's not been a decade you were away. That'd be too long." He shook his head, before walking ahead and picking some random cup of ramen.
Heejung tittered although she found him odd.
"That's very hot." She commented, striding toward him. His eyebrow arched in question, mind going fuzzy of what she's pertaining to.
What's too hot? Did I do anything that peaked her interest? Did I do something that somehow turned her on? Oh my gosh, since when has she been this upfront? What is this Western behavior?
She took the same cup of ramen and checked the back of it. "I tried this once and I could not feel my tongue right after my first bite."
Sehun stared at her, flustered and disappointed at himself for the thoughts he just had seconds ago. He felt so embarrassed of himself that he couldn't look at her up until paying at the cashier.
"Thanks for accompanying me." He turned to her as they stepped out of the store with the boxes of groceries in their arms.
"No worries." She smiled. "Is your house by the neighborhood?"
"Yeah. I can handle this."
"I could take you there." She motioned over her car that's parked at the side of the road.
"That's alright. It's quite near."
"Great!" She began heading towards her wrecked car, holding fast the box she's holding as she felt her keys in her pockets.
"Heejung!" Sehun called, reaching his hand to her to somehow discourage her of her plan. "It's fine, really."
"You know, it's already past midnight. We'd get home faster if we take the car."
Heejung was determined. And Sehun could not refuse her offer any longer.
So he got in the car and buckled in for the ride of his life.
The car engine started as it sounded off, then Heejung positioned her hand on the wheel. She looked at the rear mirror to check if there's any cars going behind her, quite meticulously this time, and all the while, Sehun's attention were completely on her, observing her.
"How did I do?" She asked once they're finally on the road. She could feel his gaze on her the entire time.
He chuckled. "I think you needed more practice."
"Wow." She glanced at him with a look of disbelief. "Glad you weren't my driving instructor, Mr Perfectionist."
"Oh, you would be perfect if I was your driving instructor."
"Huh."
"You for one would definitely have no problems with certain accidents like, getting your trunk deformed, if I was your driving instructor." She scoffed at his playful remark.
"I think you'd be my problem if you were my driving instructor."
"Problem? The only problem you'll have with me would be getting distracted by this face, baby."
"See, that's the problem!" She dramatically hit the wheel, and they both laughed. "Oh shoot, which way should we take?"
"See my point?" He cocked a brow at her as he patted his chin with the back of his finger.
"Oh, do shut up." She shook her head, a grin fighting to line her lips. Sehun laughed as he finally told her the direction to his home.
"I see you're always up to work," she said, realizing how close his apartment is from SM.
"Nah. I'm just staying at the dorm for until the end of our promotions."
"Ah."
The car slowed down when they got close to the building, until Sehun said, "Here's fine."
"Alright."
Sehun stepped out and took the box at the back seat as well, before looking at Heejung who was watching him.
"Got everything?"
"Yep. Thanks so much.
"No problem." She casually smiled, to which he returned.
"Drive home safe!" He said in between closing the door.
When the door closed, and Sehun's figure disappeared from her sight, Heejung gazed at herself through the rear mirror. Her mind then began to disarray.
"What the hell just happened there?"
