Sehun looked at the time ticking between the walls in his living room, and found he still has remaining ten minutes to drive to the restaurant where they will be having their dinner at.
2 years ago, his mother reached out to the men in their small family to get together every month and have a sit-down dinner. Those men being Sehun, his older brother, and their father. Something in her must have snapped and was done to all the dramas. Naturally, nobody from them had the liberty nor the strength to refuse.
Their first dinner together after a few years of having the eldest son absent from the previous events in their life, was awkward and uncomfortable, to say the least. It oozed with tension between the eldest and their father, which eventually sprung into a heated argument.
Sehun, wanting to survive the developing tradition that their mother so kindly and lovingly initiated, striked up a joke to lighten up the mood. Though it definitely didn't pass their father's liking. Still it managed to patch the torn atmosphere.
Thankfully, this gradually sorted out. And they learned to suck it up for their mother's sake and sanity.
Arriving to the agreed restaurant, Sehun asked the waiter by the entrance where their family's reservation is located in. He was led to one of the private rooms in the Sushi House and was welcomed by a man sitting alone on the floor.
"You're early," Sehun stated as his brother turned sideways to look at him.
"You know Mom." Seunghun rolled his eyes. "I thought you'd be too busy to come."
The former shrugged. "You know Mom." This caused a chuckle to erupt from the older.
"Right."
"How's Daeun Noona and the baby?"
"They're doing okay. Oh, do you want to see her?" As expected of a proud young dad, Seunghun motioned Sehun to come sit with him so he may freely boast the new discoverings of his 13-month-old daughter.
Sehun watched as his brother get so giddy, seeming unable to wait. They both pivot their attention to the phone screen that played a video of Sehun's niece being taught new words and babble it so adorably.
He paused for a minute and observed his brother. Seunghun looks so happy. He has never seen him this... radiant. Between them, Seunghun had always preferred a simple life and dreamt of starting a family early on. Sehun couldn't simply understand where his brother found the motivation for that. It is not like their parents are the most ideal couple and parents out there.
But, regardless of Sehun's lack of clear understanding of his brother's perspective, Seunghun got what he wanted. He got his own family, and is doing a very great job at it, in spite of his unpatched relationship with his father.
