Tala looked out her window with sad glossy eyes. She was never allowed to go outside. The only time she was outside was in her dreams.
Tala was now sixteen, and she hoped her father would let her explore the world that surrounded them. But that hope was fading quickly.
She looked down into her hand, in her hand was a silver cross necklace that she gotten from her mother. It was a triangle shaped necklace with a red pendant in the middle.
That necklace was the only reminder of she had of her mother.Shortly after she had turned four, there had been a big war. A war against humans and vampires. The vampires didn't think highly of the humans, and thought it was going to be an easy battle. Her mother, father and older brother went, and from what he said it was a complete slaughter. The humans were bigger, stronger, and had much better weapons then the vampires did. The vampires had small numbers compared to the humans. Her mother died in the battle protecting her brother. Her father and brother and only about 32 others survived.
But a new kind of vampire was created in the mists of the battle. Before the war there was only pure blood vampires, and you can tell that because the red hair and blue eyes. But after the war a vampire with blonde hair and red eyes was created. Tala's father told her that when the pureblood vampires bit the humans and drank their blood it changed them. There is no name for the other kind, but they are usually referred to as savages.
Tala's father had put up a barrier between the three lands- humans, pureblood, and savages.
Both races of vampires lived in fear of the humans, but soon lived in fear of each other.
Tala and her mother had a special bond. She was loving and gentle. But her father was cold and heartless. After her mother died, they grew farther and farther apart. Tala had spent countless hours in the window. She hardly ever ate, slept or anything except look at the world that was at her fingertips but just out of reach.Tala looked down at the necklace, then slowly she put it around her neck, touching the red pendant. A slight knock at the door snapped her out of her daydream.
"It's unlocked, I think." Tala called.
"Please excuse me, but the king has requested your presence ." A young maid said.
"Thank you..." Tala looked at the maid closely.
"I do not think I have seen you around here before."
"My name is Star, and yes I am new here.....that is all I'm allowed to tell you." She said and looked a little sad.
Tala sighed sadly and stood up from the window and made her way over to her mirror. She brushed her waist long red hair and tied it into a side braid. Usually she would be excited to get out, but when she does all she gets to do is listen to her father yell at her.
Tala sighed at the image in her mirror, not that she was disappointed with the way she looked, she was just preparing herself to be yelled at. Tala walked over to her door and very slowly made her way to the throne room.*************************************
"Eric! Quickly come here!" The king yelled.
"Yes father?" Eric replied.
"I have a fear that after all these years Tala has discovered a way to get outside. We both know how much she wants to go there." The king stated.
"So, it's not like she's gonna run away." Eric added.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that Eric. She doesn't seem to like it here." The king huffed.
"I wonder why." Eric whispered.
"Did you say something?" The king asked sternly.
"No father." Eric lied.
"Anyway I have planned to move her room down into the ground with no light so she can't escape." The king smiled.
"Father, you know how much she loves the light! Take that away from her and I'm not sure what she's gonna do! Why do you always do this to her? She hasn't done anything to deserve this!" Eric screamed.
"Eric! Do not back talk me! I may be your father but I am also your king! Show some respect!" The king bellowed.
"Well a true king doesn't treat their daughter like you do!" Eric fought back.
"I guess I'm original." The king smirked.
"So why are you telling me this?" Eric questioned.
"Because I know that after I tell her, she is gonna start crying and run to you, like she always does. I don't want you to say anything to her about this. Understand?" The king asked harshly.
"I don't see why is should say yes." Eric spat.
"If you don't I can execute you right here right now." The king warned.
"What kind of father are you?" Eric asked.
"A controlling one. So yes or no?" He replied.
"I guess I have no choice, I never do. Yes." Eric hated to say.
"Now that's a good son!" The king cried.
"Yeah, what ever." Eric walked out of the thrown room.*************************************
Tala skidded to a stop on the shiny wood floor. Placing her cold hand on the doorknob she took a deep breath and turned the knob and opened the door and walked into the room.
"Tala, I need to discus something with you." The king called.
"So I heard." Tala replied coldly.
" Do you still dream about going outside?" The king asked.
"Yes I do! Not that you would care." Tala answered.
The king studied Tala as she shifted uncomfortably.
"I am moving you to underground." He said finally.
"WHAT!! Why? What did I do!" Tala screamed in pure shock.
"Nothing, I'm doing this to protect you. I know you want to go back to the barrier because of that stupid boy!" The king spat.
"I didn't say I wanted to see him, I barely even remember him!" She lied, "I just want to breath fresh air!"
"I will not change my decision." The king spoke sternly.
"You say you want to protect me.....but really all you want to do is ruin my life! Well congratulations you have succeeded!" Tala yelled back and started running for the door.
"Tala! Do not speak to your father in that voice! For that you can go to bed without dinner!" The king called to her.
"You're not my father! Your just some stupid man who doesn't care if I'm dead!" Tala screamed and slammed the door behind her.A/N ~ is this chapter to long? Tell me if it should be longer or shorter, or keep it the same. :)
