𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆, 𝐈 went home to check on my dad before school. I walked into the small home to find my dad just waking up from the couch.

"Where the hell have you been?" He snapped, approaching me.

I frowned, "Dad, I stayed at Steve's last night."

He scoffed in disbelief, "Jesus christ, Naomi. Why didn't you tell me? I was worried."

"I did tell you," I whispered, the fact he couldn't remember upsetting me.

"Did you?" His eyes widened as he went to sit back on the couch, "I'm sorry, Naomi. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."

"It's okay, Dad." I smiled softly. "It's okay. I'm gonna make you some breakfast, okay?"

He nodded slowly as I went into the kitchen to grab him some cereal. He was waiting for me on the couch, just watching the TV, "Thank you, sweetheart." He smiled gratefully.

I leaned down so I was at his level, "I have to go to school." I informed him, "I'll see you later, okay?" He nodded lightly at my words, his eyes still on the TV, "Okay."

𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐈 went to sit at our usual lunch table where Tommy and Carol already were. The redhead had her foot on the table as she got us to inspect it, "No, I swear. Look at this. It's totally frostbite." She told us.

"Thanks," I muttered as Steve gave me his water bottle and I took a sip, "It's a heated pool, Carol."

She frowned, "Well, if it's not frostbite, then what is it?"

The Harrington boy scoffed, "I don't care what it is, it's disgusting. Get it off the table. We're eating here."

The girl huffed as she brought her foot to the ground. Nancy came to sit beside her boyfriend, "Hey, Tommy." She spoke up, "When you left, did you see Barb?"

He frowned, "Who?"

"Barbara." She told him with a concerned look in her eyes, "She's not here today."

He chuckled, "I seriously have no idea who you're talking about."

Steve scoffed, "Come on, don't be an ass, man. Did you see her leave last night or not?"

He shook his head with a smirk, "No, she was gone when we left."

"Probably couldn't stand all that moaning," Carol spoke up as she and Tommy started making loud sexual noises and hitting the table.

I rolled my eyes at the two, "You're so weird. Count yourselves lucky, I'm the one who had to sleep through it."

Steve chuckled as he turned to his girlfriend, "I'm sure she's fine. She's probably just skipping."

"Yeah, probably." She shrugged but she didn't seem sure.

I frowned, "I don't know. She doesn't seem like the type of person to skip class."

Nancy turned to face me, "Naomi, did you sleep there?"

I nodded, "Yeah, sorry. I haven't seen her."
