Chapter 1

Haneul's POV:
Today's the first day of school. The first day at Chungdam. The day before, I was sent an email telling me which room I had to go to. I arrived at the school and I told the teacher which room I had to go to and he sent me to the building in which my class was at. Or should I say, was supposed to be at. I walked into the building and went upstairs to find the room A16 but when I was at the top, all the classes had B instead of A. The teacher had sent me to the wrong block.

I found another teacher and asked her where my class is,
"oh my you poor thing, a silly teacher sent you to the wrong building. Go downstairs and walk towards the canteen, go to the right of it and keep walking past the girls bathroom, up the stairs then turn right and you'll find the A rooms there" the teacher stated.
I stood there confused as I already forgot the first thing she said but instead of asking her to repeat I thanked her and walked off.

While I was going back down the stairs, my eyes met another pair that seemed quite familiar. It was the guy that I saw at the taster day back in May. No way. So turns out I was wrong, I did see him again. And there'll be more of that happening.
"Hey" the guy nodded at me and smiled but I was too shocked to believe that the good looking guy I saw at the taster day now goes to the school I go to so instead of waving back or saying hello, I rush down the stairs in a hurry. I know, what a silly thing to do, but I am a silly person.

After walking in circles to find A16, I eventually found the class and take a seat. Everyone in the room seemed to be making friends already but my shy introverted self couldn't relate.

"Hello everyone, my name is Mr Shin and welcome to Chungdam High School. Now, you all will need to do a corona test before beginning the day so in front of you will be a test kit and on the board will be the instructions. If you happen to have a line at both C and T let me know immediately. Does anyone have any questions?" the teacher begins.

The room went silent.
Wow, first day of school and we have to put swabs in our mouths and up our noses in front of people we only just met, great.
"Then let's start everyone!" he proceeded.

Everyone was doing the test, some gagging, some coughing, some even crying but at the end no one was positive.
"While we wait to head to our new form rooms let's do some ice breakers!" the teacher goes, "On the board are some questions, talk to the person next to you and discuss!"
Everyone started talking to the people around them while I just sat in my seat quietly.

"Hey"
I look up to see the boy who sat in front of me.
"what animal would you say you represent the most?" he smiled.
His smile could cheer anyone up as it was as bright as the sun. He looked as though he was an angel sent from heaven. I mean, I think he really could be.
"Hmm maybe a panda?"
"Interesting" he laughed "Sorry I don't really like the idea of ice breakers. I mean look at the next question, "would you be a baked potato or a roasted potato?" What kind of question is that?" he shakes his head as we both chuckled.
"well I don't like being roasted since I can never think of a comeback, so I'll rather be baked" I tried to joke.
The boy just went silent
"Too cringey?"
The boy laughed.
"nahhh don't worry about it, I liked that joke"
I sighed in relief.
"like they say the cringier the better"
"Yup" I nodded.
The boy laughed again.
"you're a funny one, I'm Jacob btw"
"Haneul"
"Nice to meet you"
"Likewise"

Would you look at that. I, Lee Haneul, made a friend. I should be so proud of myself.

And at that moment another teacher comes in the classroom and says, "it's time to go to your new form rooms now"
"Oh no I forgot to tell you all your new form rooms" Mr Shin says frantically as he quickly goes through his emails.
"Oh phew, found it! Now everyone look for your name and your form room will be displayed next to it"
My eyes scanned to where my name appeared.
"12H"
I turned to Jacob who said the exact same thing. "Nice we're in the same form!"
"Yeah!" I laughed in return.
"It says we have to go to B block" he says, so we both headed to the building with the B rooms.
The one where I was sent accidentally.
The one where I saw the taster day guy.
I walk past the classes to see if I could get a glimpse of him but eventually, we both got to our classroom and saw that nearly all the seats were taken.
"I guess we can't sit together sadly" he sighed.
"Yeah, but don't worry at least we're in the same form now" I smiled, so I sit in the front row on the right while he sits in the middle row on the left.
