Savannah's POV
Savannah had stayed over the last night and driven with Cameron to school that morning. Meaning her brown, with one white racing stripe, mini cooper was already parked outside.
Savannah slams her door shut and bangs her closed fist on the steering wheel. She lets out a frustrated sigh and starts her engine. Twelve minutes later she pulls up to a nice looking two story middle-class house. Technically three story considering her bedroom in the attic. She parks on the street and walks up to the front door. She unlocks the door and steps inside. To the right of the entrance is the family living room and to the left is a small mud room. While Savannah takes off her shoes infront of her cubby in the mud room she hears someone call out her name. "Sav, sweetie, is that you?" Mrs. Connor or Susan, as she tells Savannah to call her, asks from the kitchen which is down the hall past the half-bath bathroom and behind the living room.
Daniel and Susan Connor took Savannah in as a foster kid in the beginning of last summer. They are the nicest, most adorable couple that Savannah has not only seen but also been fostered by. Savannah is the upmost grateful for them.
"Yup, it's me!" Savannah calls back as she walks into the kitchen. "Oh wow, it smells amazing in here, Susan!" Savannah goes to lean against the island in the middle of the kitchen. Susan currently cutting up some vegetables on a cutting board on the opposite side of the island. "Why thank you!" She's grinning ear to ear at the comment. "I thought you weren't gunna be home till after camp?" She looks up to give me her full attention. This is something Savannah's still getting use to, adults who actually take care of her and support her. "Um... yeah, well you see," Savannah starts tearing up and Susan spins to quickly wash her hands then walks over to Savannah and hugs her. "Oh sweetie, your okay," Susan whispers above her as her chin rests on Savannah's head. Savannah still can't believe she's let her guard down enough around this family to actually be comfortable crying in front of them.
After about a minute of just standing there, Savannah unwraps herself from Susan and looks up ready to explain, "I don't even deserve the pity, I was being a total jerk." Susan's face scrunches up, "To Cameron?" Susan knows it's weird because Savannah has filled her in on just how much Cameron means to her and that they've never had any serious fights.
Savannah sighs, "... No. To Finley." Susan's face scrunches up again. Savannah tries to fill in the blanks, "So you know how I told you about Blake and her becoming best friends, well apparently Blake's been inviting her over when I'm not around and she's become friends with Cam, Em, and Ri too." Susan is still confused, "Okay annndd, why is this a problem? This is great news, right?!? I mean this gives you the perfect opportunity to start hanging out with 'Little Miss Perfect' and finally make your move!"
Savannah throws her head back and sighs, "How many times do I have to tell you I don't like her?!"
A voice peeps up behind Savannah, "Are we talking about Finley again?"
Savannah spins around and spots the ten year old kid at the kitchen entrance. Despite his comment, Savannah smiles at him, "How long have you been standing there?" Oz walks over and puts his hands up, to which Savannah drops her backpack on the floor and picks him up. "Just long enough to hear you were mean to the girl you like," "Oozzzz, not you too, you're suppose to be in my corner," Savannah pinch's his side and he giggles.
Oz is Daniel and Susan's biological son. He's Savannah's favorite person and Savannah is his. Their bond is super tight and Savannah is proud to call him her brother.
Susan smiles at her son and hopefully soon to be daughter, (Daniel and Susan have been planning on adopting her since the first time they walked in on the two sleeping in Oz's bed. Savannah was laying out on Oz's tiny bed and Oz was curled up into her side. A lamp was on and Savannah had a book in both hands that had been forgotten about as it rested over her stomach). Susan smiles at the two kid's antics and walks back over to the cutting board to continue making dinner. Savannah sets Oz down on the counter.
"Oh I have the perfect idea! Tomorrow night, Daniel will be home from his business trip, and I was planning on making meatloaf! Why don't you invite the gang over AND Finley to mend fences?" Susan has a mischievous grin forming. "Um, yeah no. You just want to meet Finley," Savannah replies. Susan glances over to Oz and nods her head. Oz then stares into Savannah's eyes with the cutest puppy dog look, "Savy," he laces his hands together to beg, "pweeetttyyy pleassessees?" Savannah takes one look at him and knows there's no other option, "Gosh fine! I'll tell them after camp tonight. But I won't beg if they say no!"
Oz pumps his fist in the air and shouts, "YES!" Susan scuffs and let's out, "Please, like those Reed siblings could ever say no to my meatloaf! And if those two are in, the rest will be there too."
Savannah replies, "Yeah yeah whatever," she checks the time on her phone and realizes she should leave soon for camp. "Alright I gotta go get ready," she leans in to hug Oz, "Wait! Can you give me a piggy back ride to my room?" Savannah laughs, "Of course!" Savannah leans down to grab her once discarded backpack from the floor and puts it on her front, then she turns her back to Oz and leans downs a little so Oz can more easily grasp onto her from his spot on the counter. Once he's on Savannah's back, she turns and gives Susan a thanks for the hug and being there for her. Then she sets off to Oz's room.
There are three bedrooms on the second floor. One is the master's for Daniel and Susan. One is Oz's and the other is a guest room. The guest room as become an office for the Connor's and it's also where Savannah and Oz do their homework. In-between Oz's room and the office lies a bathroom. Then continuing up the stairs to what once was the attic is Savannah's room. It's larger than any room she's had before (even with the slanted roofs) and she loves having so much privacy.
After dropping Oz off at his room, Savannah continues upstairs to her room. She changes into a sports bar and throws her white practice penny over the top. Then switches out her skirt for a pair of athletic shorts. She braids her hair half way into three sections to then throw the rest in a messy but stable bun on the top of her head. She walks back downstairs, giving a hug to Oz and a goodbye to Susan on her way to the mud room where she grabs her stick, cleats, sneakers, goggles, and a water bottle. She drops everything besides her stick in her lax backpack, slides on her yellow and white checkered slip-on vans and is out the door.
