Savannah's POV
Savannah arrives 40 minutes early along with most of the other returning varsity players to help the coaches set everything up and go over the itinerary for the next two hours.
As Savannah walks around to her trunk, Cameron's forest green vintage bronco pulls up into the parking space next to her. Deep breaths, it's just an apology... even if it is to her.
Cameron and Emma open their doors and hop out. Savannah looks up and opens her mouth to begin her first round of apologies, but Cameron speaks up before she can produce sound, "You don't have to say it to us." Emma adds, "You will though if you don't mean it," she points her finger accusingly at Savannah. Savannah nods her head.
Cameron opens up her trunk and Riley and Finley appear at the back of the car. Savannah continues to grab her stuff and a bucket of yellow lacrosse balls from her car. Cameron, Emma, Riley, and Finley also grab their gear.
As the girls wait for Finley to grab her second bag with all her pads, Riley sticks her elbow into Savannah's side. This prompts a small "ow" to leave Savannah's lips and she turns to glare at Riley. In doing so she finds her three friends all tilting their heads and raising their eyebrows towards Finley. Savannah let's out an inaudible sigh just as Finley closes the trunk and turns to the girls waiting for her.
"I'm sorry," Savannah says as she watches the ground. Riley sticks her elbow into Savannah's side again. Savannah clears her throat then looks up to make eye contact with Finley, "I'm sorry for calling you a bitch."
Finley's quick to respond, "It's fine," she has a small smirk forming on the corner of her mouth, "Just don't let up on your shots tonight cause you feel bad." Savannah's friends stifle some laughs. She turns on her heels and starts walking to the field, she calls over her shoulder, "Come on guys, we're gunna be late!"
Ha, unbelievable. As if I would go easy on her for just calling her a bitch... I only apologized because the girls wanted me too. She's in for it tonight, I'm making sure she goes home with a few bruises.
The girls get to the turf field and drop their belongings on the side lines. They walk up to a table set up where Emma's mom sits waiting to check all the girls in. Cameron starts, "Hey, Mrs. Russell!" Emma's mom looks up from her packet of names, "Oh hey girls! How's the dream team doing today? Emma keeping you guys out of trouble?"
Riley speaks up, "Oh you know it Mrs. R!" Riley swings her arm over Emma's shoulders, "I'd be expelled 10 times over without Em in my corner!" Riley grins at Emma while Emma stares at the ground to try and hide the blush forming on her cheeks.
All the girls including Mrs. Russell laugh. Mrs. Russell goes to mark all the names down and then looks up to Finley, "Rivers, sweetie, how's my favorite goalie?!" It's Finley's turn to blush, "Oh hi Mrs. Russell, I'm good thanks for asking!" Great, she's even cozy with Mrs. R, which isn't difficult considering she's the sweetest person ever... but still, does anyone not like her?
"Oh that's great to hear, sweetie. Now I'd love to keep talking but you guys go on and help the coaches set up! Oh and have fun tonight!" Mrs. Russell cuts the conversations as more people continue to show up. The girls get their cleats on, place their googles atop their heads (besides Finley who doesn't gear up till after warmups) and grab their sticks. They greet and chitchat with their other pervious teammates. Meanwhile the coaches run through the basic gist of tonight's plan: run a lap, stretch, warmups, split up into positions and have a talk, then spilt into beginners and returners, drills, and lastly a game of island tag.
The camp is run by the returning varsity players while the coaches supervise. The variety players who lead the camp all wear white practice pennies while the rest of the girls wear their black and purple practice pennies.
