Savannah's POV

It's 1:56 pm when Savannah walks into her last class of the day: AP calculus AB. The first thing she spots on her way to her desk is a curly haired brunette, nose shoved into the calculus textbook. Always starting next week's homework early... you need to take a chill pill Finley.

"Hey Sav!" Cameron says, grinning at Savannah like she knows a secret.

Cameron is Savannah's best friend and desk partners in calculus. They sit in the back row, farthest corner from the door. The two desks in-front of them are filled by their other good friends Emma and Riley. The four of them make for an intimidating group of teenage girls with their popular personas and the never ending gossip they always seem to be whispering about.

Savannah takes her seat in the corner while returning the greeting to Cameron, suspicious of her friend, "Hey, care to tell me why you're smiling at me that way?" Cameron retorts back, "Can't a girl just admire the eye candy that is her best friend?" Mmhm what does she know? "Cam, I know you ogling stare and that's definitely not whatever that shit eating grin is. Spill it."

Just then Emma and Riley walk in and take their seats. Cameron grabs their attention right away, "Em, Ri, you're gunna wanna hear this! A little birdie told me that our dearest Sav has a hot date!" Her wiggles her eyebrows all smug like. Emma and Riley forgo grabbing their class material and turn in their seats, eagerly wanting to hear more, "Wait what?" "With who?" both girls whisper shout at the same time. Savannah scuffs, "What the fuck are you talking about?" Cameron's grin has yet to leave her face, "Oh don't play shy Sav, I heard you have some one on one time with our favorite goalie!"

Emma, Riley, and Savannah perk up. Emma and Riley suddenly share matching grins with Cameron while Savannah's face heats up. Savannah would blame the heat on her friends ability to frustrate her and nothing else. "Cam, you are so annoying," Savannah reaches over and shoves her shoulder with one arm, "Em, Ri, Cameron is being a prick. Mr. Oliver is forcing me into tutoring sessions with Finley because, as you guys know, I suck at math." Savannah's friends share a look with one another which further frustrates her, "Guys back off, it's bad enough I have to spend time with my least favorite person. I really don't need my friends teasing me about it."

"Hey, dream team, are we done chitchatting? I have a lesson to start," Mr. Oliver's voice cut off anything the girls were about to respond with. Instead they turn towards the front and give Mr. Oliver an apologetic look and nod.

'Dream team' is a phrase the four girls we coined after last year's lacrosse season. With Savannah being the underclassmen captain, Cameron's amazing defense, and Emma's and Riley's stellar midfield, they were a force to be reckoned with on the field.

Cameron leans over while Mr. Oliver starts the lesson and whispers, "Keep saying it all you want but we both know you don't mean that about Rivers." Savannah rolls her eyes, "Whatever, who'd you even hear it from that I'm getting tutored by her?" Cameron nods her head over to a couple rows over and closer to the front of the class, where her older brother, Blake, sits.

Blake is a senior and one year older than Cameron, which puts her in junior year. Cameron is Savannah's best friend and basically her sister, which in turn makes Blake like a brother. Blake, Emma, and Riley are all seniors and were super close growing up because they ran in the same friend group. When Cameron started lacrosse in the sixth grade, she met Emma and Riley, and thus the two other girls and the siblings all became a close group. It wasn't until eighth grade, when Savannah was jumping between foster homes, that she meet Cameron Reed. One thing lead to another and Savannah was spending most nights at the Reed's where she felt safe and was always allowed stay.

Savannah stares at the back of Blake's head as he passes a note to Finley. Yup that's right, my best friend's brother is desk partners with miss perfect. Not only was I shocked in the beginning of the year when they first sat next to each other but to then learn that they had been hanging out all summer and were supposedly 'best friends'... my jaw hit the floor. I mean all summer and Blake just forgot to mention that he was 'friends' with my nemesis, unbelievable. Clearly I'm still a little heated about it. But you know what? I have a right to be! He can say they're just friends all he wants but I know they have something going on. It's not like I like Blake, ew, he's like a brother to me... it's just why her?
